Good afternoon anyone, is it just me or is it suspiciously warm for late January? A bunch of us from the two churches are away for the weekend and last time we went (same weekend 2 years ago) my bottle of Coke froze on the windowsill. I have my doubts it will be that cold this weekend....

However, before we get to Friday, there's the rest of the week to see through:

Monday I'm starting my day off a little early by taking this evening off as....

Tomorrow I'm at the full governors meeting at Bispham Drive in the evening which would normally be part of my day off.

Wednesday Cafe Breathe is on at Toton Methodist in the evening.

Thursday Steve (from the Stapleford Churches) and I will be in for Showcase at George Spencer and then youth club is on at Toton Methodist in the evening.

Friday There is no GYM Youth Club on this evening as all the leaders will be otherwise engaged with the church weekend.

Sunday There are no youth groups in the morning or evening this weekend.

Soul Survivor if anyone wants to book for this and get the cheapest price, please speak to me as soon as possible.

I'll be having a fairly quiet day next Monday, catching up on sleep after the weekend away, so look out for a slightly belated email next week ;-)

I know I'm not normally this organised, ;-), but I'm off to a conference tomorrow so I'm getting ahead of myself with the weekly email! I'm away from tomorrow morning to Thursday afternoon, but thanks to our willing volunteers all the groups are happening as normal. Here's this week:

Monday - I'm heading to Wales to meet and serve the current crop of Time For God volunteers. I'll be part of the Film and Storytelling stream, as well as running a photography workshop and helping out in the cafe.

Tuesday - Still at the conference, doing the same things.

Wednesday - Yep, still in Wales but Cafe Breathe is on in the evening, as is Toton Churches Council (the lengths I'll go to to avoid it I hear some of you say!)

Thursday - I'll be back in the land of the English by lunchtime, and back in Toton in time for Showcase at George Spencer. By the time youth club comes around I might be fading a little, but I will be there!

Friday - Play and Praise is on in the afternoon, and GYM Youth Club is on at the usual time at Toton Methodist.

Sunday - There's a great opportunity to hear about life in Africa on Sunday morning - Judy Acheson who has spent over 30 years working in the DR Congo is now living in the UK and will be speaking at the 10.30 service at St Peter's. Afterwards, there is a lunch for anyone to come along and enjoy as well as spend time with Judy. Breathe Deeper is on in the evening as well.

While I'm away I will have email and mobile access, though signal apparently is a bit patchy, so I can be reached, and will be popping online from time to time, so if there is anything you want more info on, please do get in touch.

Morning everyone, and welcome to another week.

We're back to "normal" this week with all our groups up and running, so this week looks like this:

Today I'm at George Spencer for a meeting about setting up a second weekly group, meeting at lunchtime on Mondays.

Tuesday I'm on a day off

Wednesday Cafe Breathe re-starts after the Christmas and new year break, at Toton Methodist, for anyone in Year 9 and above. 7.00 pm to 8.30 pm. Jo Stephens, who has been curate at St Peter's for the last couple of years is moving on to Hucknall as part of the staff team there, and there is a farewell "do" at St Mary's, Attenborough from 6.30 pm., drop in any time up to 8.30 if you can.

Thursday Showcase is on again at George Spencer, if you've got chopsticks at home, you might want to do a bit of practice for this week.... Youth Club re-opens again this evening at Toton Methodist from 7.00 til 8.30 pm for Years 7 & 8.

Friday Play and Praise is on in the afternoon and GYM Youth Club is on in the evening for Years 3 to 6 at Toton Methodist. 6.15 to 7.45 pm.

Sunday The Toton churches have been working closely together for over 20 years now, and each year renew that partnership, and remember God's promises to us with a special service in January. This year, it is this Sunday coming, at 10.30 am at Toton Methodist, and all are welcome. At the start of this new year, where will God lead us and will we follow? Breathe Deeper is on again in the evening, at St Peter's, from 7.00 pm til 8.30 for anyone in Year 7 and up.

Just a normal, quiet week then.... Have a good one!

Christmas Breathemail 2011

Good morning one and al and welcome to the final Breathemail of this year!

This week starts and finishes very busy with a bit of a lull in the middle before I get a few days off after Christmas.

Today I'm at the Busy Bees Christmas celebration later this morning, Quizmas at George Spencer at lunchtime and then we're hosting Bispham Drive for their carol service at St Peters this afternoon! After that, things go quiet for a bit....

Tuesday I'm on my regular weekly day off

Wednesday I'll be in Costa from about 2 pm, anyone who's around is welcome to drop in for a brew and a natter.

Friday We'll be making the Christingles for the Christmas Eve services at 10.00 am at St Peter's, drop by if you want to help out.

Christmas Eve we have Christingle Services at St Peter's at 3 pm and 5 pm and at Toton Methodist at 4 pm. If you see me running between the two buildings aroud then, it's because I'm speaking at all three..... There is a midnight Communion at 11.30 pm at St Peter's.

Christmas Day there is a joint service at Toton Methodist at 10.00 am to celebrate Jesus birth.

Once we finish the Christmas Day service, I'm off until January 4th. I'll be around, but off duty so to speak. I will happily deal with emergencies, but only emergencies, so please don't be surprised to see me but not hear from me via email etc.

Wednesday January 4th there is a get together for all of you who willingly and enthusiastically give your spare time to help lead and run our Breathe groups in Toton. It's at St Peter's at 7.00 pm upstairs. Thank you to you all for all you do.

All the groups then start from Sunday January 8th with Breathe Deeper starting then, Cafe, youth club and GYM etc starting the following Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

If I don't see you, have a great Christmas and every blessing for the new year.

Morning all,

Much as I enjoy the hot chocolate giveaway we do each year, the early starts hurt.... It's not often I'm arriving at church just after 7 am! We gave a way a nice round 50 this morning, if you are passing Toton Methodist any morning this week, please grab one, roughly 7.45 to 8.30 each morning. The rest of the week seems to be filled with Christmas parties....is there something happening soon?

Monday I'm popping in to the Year 3 show at Bispham Drive this afternoon

Tuesday after hot chocolate I'm having a day off!

Wednesday I'm back in Bispham for lunch and then we host Chetwynd Road in the evening for their Carol Concert. Cafe Breathe is on in the evening at Toton Methodist as usual.

Thursday brings Showcase with a bunch of Christmas games and prizes this week and at Youth Club we'll have a series of Wii-based competitions and prizes :-)

Friday brings my last party/celebration of the week with the GYM Youth Club party on Friday night at the usual time.

Sunday I'm running the usual group during the morning services, I'll be starting off at Toton Methodist and walking down to St P's. In the evening there's a brief Breathe Deeper between the carol services, which are at Toton Methodist at 6 pm and at St Peter's at 8 pm. There'll be hot chocolate in the youth room at St Peter's in between the services.

Although next week is a "short" week in that there are only two school days, I'll still do a Breathemail with details of a Christmas Costa, Christingles and other bits and bobs.

Ok, so it's still the 4th, but if I don't send tomorrows Breathemail tonight it might not get sent tomorrow!

This week is rather busy, Christmas is really looming large now and the events are coming thick and fast. This week looks like this:

Monday - I'm at Bispham for assembly in the morning, spending time preparing St Peter's for Thursday night in the afternoon and at a Friends of Toton Fields Christmas party in the evening. it's at St Peter's at 7.30 if you're free! Just how well do you know Toton.....?

Tuesday Time for a day off....

Wednesday I've squeezed in a prayer and listening day, taking time out to pray and reflect as we approach Christmas. If there is anything you would like me to add to our prayer list, please do let me know. Cafe Breathe is on in the evening, it's at St Peter's this week as TMC is being used to set up for Experience Christmas.

Thursday Over the next 2 days we're hosting Experience Christmas at Toton Methodist for a couple of the schools in the area. Youth club is not on tonight as instead there is a youth groups Carol celebration at St Peter's from 7.00 pm.

Friday brings day 2 of Experience Christmas, as well as Play and praise in the afternoon and GYM youth club in the evening.

Looking further ahead, we've got Hot Chocolate next week (Dec 12th to 16th) and on Saturday 17th we've lined up a Home Hope day in partnership with Hope Nottingham. There are 2 options, either to help with a bit of gardening or a bit of painting and decorating. You can let us know which you'd you'd prefer on our Facebook page here and we'll sort out consent forms for you as necessary. Anyone in Year 7 or above can volunteer a couple of hours to make a big difference for someone.

There'll be more about Hot Chocolate and Christmas services next week.

Good morning everyone and happy new year! (Yes, I know it's not even December but the new church year starts with Advent each year so yesterday was the fist day of the new year..... Confused yet?)

This week is fairly quiet before I have my fist Christmas event next Monday! It really does feel like the calm before the storm as I look ahead in my diary....

Today I'm at session 2 of the Child Protection Training course, and with that hat on, a provisional date for your diaries is Feb 15th next year when we'll be running a local evening looking at Child Protection. If you are a leader/helper/volunteer with any of our groups at Toton Churches, please put this date in your diary now.

Tomorrow I'm on a day off.

Wednesday I'll be in George Spencer for a meeting at lunchtime about Quizmas, a lunchtime quiz we're organising before term ends and I'll be at Cafe Breathe for at least part of the evening.

Thursday I'll be at Showcase in the afternoon and Youth Club in the evening. In the evening there is also a music practice for anyone interested in helping with the music for the youth carol celebration the following Thursday.

Friday I'll be at GYM in the evening.

Sunday I'm leading the youth group during the morning services and will be starting off at TMC before walking down to St P's. Breathe Deeper is on in the evening.

Next week, well, that's a rather different one! More on that next week ;-)

I've just got back from a couple of days away with friends who were nearly as shocked as I was when I left their Christmas presents with them! We usually get around to exchanging gifts in about the following May.... (Credit must go to my wife for getting me that organised!)

Advent is nearly upon us, and many of us will start the countdown to Christmas with calendars and chocolates etc. If you fancy an online version, why not try this one showcasing creative young talent from around the world? Our preparations for Christmas start on Sunday as we mark the beginning of Advent.

This Week is relatively quiet with the regular groups happening, the details are below, and in two weeks time we have our first Carol service!

Today I'm at a Child Protection training evening run by the Diocese of Southwell.Please phone me if you want to come along, spaces are still available.

Tuesday I'm on my regular day off.

Wednesday Cafe Breathe will be happening at Toton Methodist from 7.00 pm, and I will be there this week!

Thursday I'm away for a couple of days but Showcase and Youth Club are both on as normal at George Spencer and Toton Methodist.

Friday Play and Praise and GYM Youth Club are both on as usual at Toton Methodist.

Sunday The usual morning groups for children and teenagers are on, as is Breathe Deeper for a games night at St Peter's from 7.00 pm. Toton Methodist is the venue for an Advent praise service at 6.00 pm.

Christmas stuff!

Thursday December 8th Youth and uniformed groups Christmas celebration

Sunday December 11th Our annual Toy Service at St Peter's, with toys going to local charities supporting local families.

Monday 12th to Friday 16th Hot Chocolate! We'll be serving hot chocolate to people walking to school/work all this week. I'm assuming it might actually be cold weather-wise by then....

Sunday 18th Carol Services at Toton Methodist at 6 pm and St Peter's at 8.00 pm with hot chocolate in the youth room at St Peter's in between.

Wednesday 21st I'll be in Costa (time to be confirmed) for a brew and a natter with whoever wants to pop in

Saturday 24th I'll be at all three Christingle services......

In the meantime, I hope your shopping, decorating and other preparing goes well!

Morning all,

With Children in need around the corner we've all seen loads of "Pudsey" around, but I think this is one of the better ones. And when you wake up on Saturday, you'll be waking up on World Toilet Day don't you know? (No, I hadn't heard of it before today either....). While we were on site in Zambia over the summer, this is the one we used.... We were very thankful for the flushing "Western" ones back at the hotel!

This week is filled with the regular events and from my point of view, Christmas has already started as I'll be doing quite a bit of preparation for the rush that is the last 2 weeks beforehand!

Today brings a couple of meetings about Christmas services and events, including Experience Christmas preparations.

Wednesday Cafe Breathe is on at TMC from 7.00 til 8.30 pm.

Thursday sees Showcase at George Spencer and Youth Club in the evening.

Friday brings Play and Praise in the afternoon and GYM Youth Club in the evening.

Sunday is All Age Sunday at Toton Churches, the service is at 10.30 at St Peter's and Breathe Deeper is on at St P's as well in the evening.

There are still a few places left on the Diocesan Child Protection training course for anyone that wants to come along, please let me know if you want to come, Mondays Nov 21st and 28th.

Otherwise, things are quiet enough for the moment as we close in on Advent and our preparations for Christmas. Let's hope Derby city get their lights back in time!

Anyway, on with this week. Christmas is looming, summer is fading but Zambia is still vivid - I've just done the first of 5 sessions about it this week! I'll not list them all here but look out for Saturday.

Tuesday there's a meeting of the Youth Management Committee tomorrow evening.

Wednesday Cafe Breathe is on in the evening.

Thursday brings Showcase at George Spencer in the afternoon and Youth Club in the evening at Toton Methodist. I'll be along late after a visit to Cubs at St Peter's.

Friday Play and Praise and GYM youth club are on at the usual times at Toton Methodist.

Saturday evening sees a chance to catch up with most of the team that went to Zambia and hear their stories, the stories of the family and builders we worked with and more. There are details here, and the event starts at 7.30 pm at St Peter's, and will be finished about 9 pm.

Sunday There are Remembrance Services at both St peter's and Toton Methodist at 10.30 am, with groups for children and teenagers available for both congregations. Breathe Deeper is on at 7.00 pm at St peter's as well.

Well, it's October 31st so let me be the first to wish you all a happy All Saints Day tomorrow! May it be a day of light and hope as we remember the saints who've gone before us.

This week has already started busily for me with an Assembly this morning and I'm off to Southwell Minster this afternoon for Shine The Light.

Tomorrow I'm on a rest day

On Wednesday we say farewell to Meyrick Burfoot who passed away recently, some of you will remember him from Soul Survivor, he was one of our drivers to the event these last two summers. The Thanksgiving service is at Toton Methodist at 2.15. Cafe Breathe will be on as usual in the evening, and I'm off to a meeting to plan the youth Christmas carol service afterwards, so any ideas please let me know!

Thursday Showcase is on at George Spencer after school, a very elfy theme this term as we start a new movie. Youth Club is on in the evening for anyone in Year 7 or 8.

Friday Play and Praise is on in the afternoon at Toton Methodist for parents/carers and toddlers. GYM Youth Club for anyone in Years 3 to 6 is on at Toton Methodist at 6.15 pm.

On Sunday evening Breathe Deeper start going on their archaeological travels as we look for the next 3 weeks at the 7 churches in Revelation.

Looking ahead to Christmas, we'll be doing our hot chocolate giveaway again, if anyone would like to help out, we'll be running on the mornings of December 12th to 16th from about 7.45 am to 8.30 am each morning.

Morning all,

Well, it's the last week of this half term and summer finally seems to be over! This weeks groups are all on as usual, then over half term (the second weekend particularly) there are a couple of extras happening.

Wednesday Cafe Breathe is on for anyone in Year 9 and above.

Thursday Showcase and Youth Club (for anyone in Year 7 or 8) are both on.

Friday GYM Youth Club for Year 3 to 6 is on.

Over half term none of the regular groups are meeting, but these events are on:

25BC at Chilwell Road Methodist Church. Visit the 25BC page on Facebook for more information and download the consent form from the Toton Churches website - click on Youthwork then Documents and an Events to find it.

Shine The Light is only in half term if you are at George Spencer as it's on Monday 31st (an Inset day at Georgie...) and there's more info on that at this Facebook page. This is happening over in Southwell at the Minster.

Also on the Toton Churches website you can download information about next January's church weekend away and the youth programme I'm running as part of it and next summer's Soul Survivor information.

Lastly, on November 12th we are hosting an evening of memories, photos, video and more fromt his summers service trip to Zambia when 11 of us travelled to Africa to build a home for a family living in real poverty. Morning all,

Half term is looming already, where did September go? I'm back in the swing of things after a week at PGL last week, and I've almost caught up on lost sleep... This week is a regular one, and I've got a couple of plugs later on:

Today I'm dealing with paperwork and preparing for 25BC which promises to be a great event, I just need to remember to get some sleep at it....

Tomorrow Speaking of sleep, I'm having a day off! With Sunday being a regular working day for me I try and take Tuesdays off each week, though it hasn't really happened this term.....

Wednesday I'll be at Cafe Breathe this week. Christian Union at George Spencer is taking a break until just before Christmas when we'll be running a Quizmas event at lunchtime.

Thursday Showcase is definitely on, I will be there and we'll see if Steve is there or still waiting.... Youth Club is on in the evening at Toton Methodist Church in the evening.

Friday Play and Praise is on in the afternoon, and GYM Youth Club is on in the evening, both at Toton Methodist.

Sunday I'll be running the Yr 6 + group at St Peter's in the morning, and in the evening Breathe Deeper will be looking at Ruth Ch 3 and Marriage.

Looking ahead to half term, I've already mentioned 25BC, check the link for more information. It's a chance to hang out with your mates, reflect and pray, sleep (?) and spend the night playing games, watching DVDs and so much more.

At the end of half term there is a really good event happening at Southwell Minster on Halloween, Monday October 31st after school. I've got loads of flyers for it, and will hopefully have a link up next week.

Finally, on Friday October 21st we're having a movie night at youth club. If anyone has got any Veggie Tales DVDs, please can you let me know and we'll ask to borrow one? Thanks.

Afternoon everyone,

I'm doing a double week this week as I'll be on PGL next week and away from regular email access for the week, so there won't be a Breathemail next Monday.

Today as well as this morning's assembly at Bispham I'm at the Leadership team meeting tonight.

Tomorrow I'm at Bispham for a full governors meeting

Wednesday I'll be at George Spencer for Christian Union at lunchtime and at Costa in the afternoon this week, feel free to pop in for a brew and a chat if you are around. Cafe Breathe is on as usual at Toton Methodist in the evening.

Thursday Showcase is on at George Spencer after school in SO 6 (Base 6.... :-)) and youth club is on at Toton Methodist (Yrs 7 & 8) from 7.00 til 8.30 pm.

Friday Play and Praise is on in the afternoon and GYM youth club in the evening, both at Toton Methodist.

Sunday I'll be starting at Toton Methodist before going to St P's for the youth groups, and Breathe Deeper is on in the evening at St Peter's.

Next Week:

All the regular groups are on, at the usual times/places, but I'll be away with Bispham at PGL for the week. I will have some email access, and will be able to pick up and respond to messages via my mobile, just may not be able to pick up immediately.

It's linked to the fact that the original King James version of the Bible was published 400 years ago this year, and will be an interactive 25 hour (in a 24 hour day) event. The overnight part is reserved for youth groups. Keep an eye out for the fliers.

Morning all,

Term has well and truly started! I hope that the first few days at a new school/college last week/this week are okay all round. This week brings the start of all our regular midweek groups, and I'm back in George Spencer for more lessons this week:

Today: I'm in for the GCSE RS lessons this afternoon at George Spencer

Tuesday: I'm on a day off.

Wednesday: It's Sign-up day at George Spencer, so I'll be in there most of the morning. I won't be at Costa this week, but in the evening I will be at the Methodist Circuit Meeting to talk about Zambia. Cafe Breathe starts again this evening at Toton Methodist, 7 til 8.30 pm, for Yr 9 and above.

Thursday: I'm back in George Spencer for another Geography/RS lesson, followed by Showcase, this year in SO 6 (used to be Base 6) at 3.30 pm. At 7.00 pm, we launch our new youth club for Years 7 & 8 at Toton Methodist.

Friday: GYM youth club re-starts at Toton Methodist at 6.15, for years 3 to 6. Play and Praise is on in the afternoon as well.

Sunday: Our Sunday morning groups re-start this week, at St Peter's, but I'll be starting off at TMC and walking down. Breathe Deeper is on in the evening as well.

So there we go, a busy first full week of term! There will be information out towards the end of the month about this years bigger events, such as weekends away and Soul Survivor, so keep an eye out for those.

Did anyone see the summer holidays? They seem to have passed in a mighty rush! A new term has arrived on our doorsteps, and along with it some new changes to the programme here at Breathe. The obvious one is that Amy is no longer with us, we wish her well in her studies at Oxford, starting later this month. Most of our groups start back next week, but this week is busy enough, so here are a few dates for your diaries/reminders.

As always, if you don't want to receive this weekly email, please just reply with the word "Stop" or similar and I'll take you off the list.

This Week:

Wednesday I'll be in Costa at 3.00 pm this week, though this may not be an every week thing this term, we'll see how it develops. At 7.30 pm there is a get-together for anyone who will be helping out at the Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Sunday evening groups. It's in the youth room at St P's, and will be finished by 9.00 pm.

Thursday I'm in George Spencer for much of the day to give an insight into life in Zambia as part of Geography and RS for year 9. (I'll be in several times over the next 3 weeks.) There is no Showcase this week.

Friday I'm back in George Spencer for another Yr 9 group.

Sunday The team that travelled to Zambia are leading the 10.30 all-age service at St Peter's this Sunday, with input throughout from all 11 of us. Breathe Deeper starts this week for anyone in Year 7 and above, in the youth room upstairs at St Peter's, 7.00 pm til 8.30 pm. This week will be a relaxed, chilled out, chat-about-your-summer kind of evening.

Next Week:

As well as being in George Spencer Monday, Wednesday and Thursday next week, all our other groups start up:

Wednesdays - Cafe Breathe has switched night, but at the same time, 7.00 til 8.30 pm, at Toton Methodist Church for anyone in Year 9 and above.

Thursdays - We are launching a new youth club (any suggestions for a name?) for anyone in Years 7 and 8, at Toton Methodist Church from 7.00 pm til 8.30 pm each week.

Fridays - GYM youth club will be back, as usual, from 6.15 to 7.45 pm for anyone in Years 3 to 6 at Toton Methodist.

Sundays - Breathe Deeper, a chance to think and chat about things a bit deeper than we do during the week meets at St Peter's from 7.00 til 8.30.

Psalm 139

Hi guys!

The group at Soul Survivor requested that occasionally we post a short Bible passage and some thoughts on it on the blog. You guys can then read, respond, and have a conversation on the blog about the passage, God, and whatever else comes to mind. So here’s a quick trial run.

I’ve picked Psalm 139 as the first Bible passage, because its my favourite psalm and there’s so much in it that can relate to everyone. Read it in your Bible, or on http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=psalm%20139&version=NIV. Read the whole thing slowly, then pick a verse (just one!) that really stands out to you. Once you’ve got your verse, take it with you for the rest of the day, write it on a post-it, make it the background on your phone, whatever it takes. Think about it throughout the day and talk to God about why you like it and what you think it may mean.

For me, this morning when we leave for Zambia, the verse that sticks out is: “If I take the wings of the morning and settle at the farthest limits of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me fast” (v.9-10). Sorry, that’s two verses! : ) Anyway, check it out. Feel free to post here what your verse is and what you think God might be saying to you. Hi everyone,

The last week of term is finally upon us! Things are winding down in terms of the regular events, and Soul Survivor and the Zambia trip are looming. Holiday Special is on the horizon too. This week we've got:

Today Amy and I are at George Spencer for Project Spencer after school.

Tomorrow we are both on rest days

Wednesday We'll be in Costa in the afternoon from 3 pm.

Thursday will bring Amy's last ever appearance in George Spencer for Showcase, Base 4 after school. If you've been to Showcase, do come along and say goodbye! Cafe breathe is on as usual in the evening.

Friday sees the last youth club of this term, we meet back in September. As it's Amy's last youth club evening, we'll be making it a very special night for her.

Sunday evening brings the last Breathe Deeper of the term, and this week it will be at Toton Methodist with the pool table and other stuff out for a chilled out evening after the youth lead service at 6.00 pm.

All these groups will be back in September, along with our new youth club for Years 7 and 8 on Thursday evenings. Here's the weekly pattern, along with dates we re-open:

Wednesdays (starting on Sept 14th) Cafe Breathe re-starts, please note the change of day! Toton Methodist, 7.00 til 8.30 pm for Year 9 and above.

Thursdays (starting on the 15th) New Youth Club, Toton Methodist, 7.00 til 8.30 pm for Years 7 and 8

Fridays (starting on the 16th) Existing youth club (GYM) at Toton Methodist, 6.15 til 7.45 pm fpr Years 3 to 6

Sundays (starting on the 11th) Breathe Deeper, for years 7 and above.

We haven't decided what's happening about Costa sessions yet in September, we'll let you know.

Holiday Special is running from the Tuesday to the Friday after Bank Holiday weekend at the end of August, lookout for posters and other info around Toton.

Amy is around until late August, and will be part of both Soul Survivor and the Zambia trip this summer, so please do take an opportunity to catch up with her at some point over the coming weeks.

Breathemail will be taking a break now until September, any updates will be posted on our Facebook page - www.facebook.com/breathetoton and/or the blog - www.totonyouth.blogspot.com, where you'll be able (web connections dependant!) be able to keep up with the Zambia trip while we are out there.

Well, we're almost at the end of term! The weeks are ticking by, and summer holidays will soon be upon us. Rather than run through the regular weekly events and so on this week, I'm just going to highlight a couple of events:

Thursday July 14th - It's Your Move. This is an event we run for both Chetwynd and Bispham schools, the Year 6's come along for the afternoon as part of their preparation for the move to Year 7. We could do with a few more volunteers to help out from 1.30 pm til 3.00 pm at St Peter's. Please email me if you can make it.

Saturday July 16th - there is a bring and share BBQ at Toton Methodist as a thank you to everyone who has helped with the preparations for the Zambia trip. Come along from 6 pm, you bring the meat, we'll cook it! Drinks etc provided. (Some of the invites and notices have different times for this, we'll be there in time for a 6 start, but feel free to come along any time after that.)

Friday July 29th - We're off to Soul Survivor again! It's now too late to book a place for this year, but look out for next year!

Thursday July 4th - come and give the Zambia team a great send off from 7 pm at St Peter's when there will be a chance to mingle over refreshments, worship and pray with and for the team. We've just had details of our accommodation through and it looks like we will have web access, so we'll let you know how we are going to keep updating the website soon.

Next week I'll have more details of Holiday Special, and this week all the usual groups are meeting.

Good morning all and Happy American Independence Day!

As my compatriots celebrate with fireworks and lots of food, this Monday is a bit quieter in Toton...

Monday - Andy is away on a Outdoor First Aid Course until Wednesday, so it's just me around during the day and at Brownies this evening.

Tuesday - Andy is still on the course and I'm on a day off.

Wednesday - I'm in Oxford for the day looking at possible accommodation for next year. Andy will be back just in time for Costa in the afternoon at 3pm.

Thursday - Andy and I will be up at George Spencer in the afternoon for Showcase, and then at the Methodist church for Cafe Breathe in the evening. This group is for Year 9 and above, so if you've just moved up to Year 9 this week at George Spencer, you're very welcome. This chill evening starts at 7pm and goes until 8:30pm.

Friday - I'll be at Play and Praise in the afternoon, and then we'll both be at Youth Club in the evening.

Saturday - The team going to Zambia will be gathering for a Group Orientation day at the Methodist church.

Sunday - In the morning, the All Age service at St Peters at 10:30am will be followed by a BBQ for young people and their families at the Methodist church. If you'd like to come and haven't told us yet, please do today so we can finalize numbers! In the evening, Breathe Deeper will be looking at ambition and celebrity culture, so come along dressed as your favourite celebrity!

That's a lot for one week, but there's even more coming up in the next two months! For those of you that started the Bible in One Yearchallenge with us in September, I know its been really hard, and we've all fallen behind. Since it was at Soul Survivor that we were inspired to take this on, my new challenge is to read all of the July Bible in One Year readings before Soul Survivor starts on 29th July! I think we can do it guys! So pick up your Bible, open up to 1st July, and get going!

Coming up at the end of August is Holiday Special! There are now forms available in both churches to sign up for this week of fun and activities. Check it out!

Hi everyone,

Firstly, an apology for not sending out last weeks Breathemail..... I don't really have an excuse other than I was very busy..... The next two weeks are also busy, but we are on top of things enough to send out the email today!

Today is the start of work experience week at George Spencer, and we have Lydia and Hannah with us, they'll be at most things we're at this week so say hello to them if you get a chance.

Wednesday we'll all be at Costa from about 3 pm onwards for a coffee and a chat, do drop in if you are nearby. I'm at the leadership team and Connect groups meeting in the evening.

Thursday Showcase and Cafe Breathe are on at the usual times at George Spencer and Toton Methodist.

Friday Play and Praise is on in the afternoon, it's Teddy Bear's Picnic day, so if you go down to the woods..... Youth Club is on in the evening too.

Sunday sees Breathe Deeper at St Peter's in the evening, with a red white and blue theme as we look at Independence! (Amy will be partying on the Monday...)

Next week I'm away on a first aid course Monday and Tuesday, so Amy will be taking care of the email, and will be around. I'll be back on the Wednesday at some point, but definitely in time for Church Council.

At the end of next week we are hosting a BBQ for youth and children's groups after the all age service at St Peter's. The BBQ is at the Methodist Church, if you'd like to come please let us know in advance so we can cater accordingly.

Hi everyone!

Andy is away on holiday this week, so it's just me! It's still a busy week though, so here goes:

Today - I'm off to a Youth Worker Lunch this afternoon, then to Brownies in the evening.

Tuesday - The team going to Zambia are going on a trip to a building site a bit closer to home.

Wednesday - I will be at Costa in the afternoon, from 3 to 4:30. Come along and have a drink and a chat!

Thursday - I'll be up at George Spencer after school for Showcase (we're watching Shrek: Forever After!) and then Breathe Cafe is on in the evening, at the Methodist church, from 7 to 8:30pm.

Friday - I'll be at Play and Praise in the afternoon, then at Youth Club in the evening. Friday Youth Club is for Years 3-6 and takes place at the Methodist church from 6:15 to 7:45pm. We now have room again in this group for new members, so bring a friend! We also have a special guest coming along on Friday, a friend of Bisoke!

Sunday - In the morning, there will be services at both churches at 10:30am, with the usual groups for young people.

In the afternoon there will be a Habitat Team Meeting, from 2 to 4pm.

In the evening, Breathe Deeper will consist of spending some time with the Holy Spirit, come along and give it a try!

The Car Wash Extravaganza!

Saturday June 25th is our last planned fundraiser for the trip to Zambia to build homes for people living in Chazanga slum in Lusaka. Alongside the car wash, we'll be running a number of other stalls:

- We'll be serving hot dogs and drinks.

- Andy will be in the stocks at various times through the day for you to throw wet sponges at him!

- Also, cake stalls, arts and crafts stalls and more.

- "Doors" open at 10.00 am.

At last, the last half term of the year is here, we can start the countdown to summer holidays!

Everything is up and running this week, and at the end of the month we have a big day of car washing and more, there's a bit about that later on.

Monday - I'm at the churches Leadership team tonight and Amy, who is back from America, heads off to her last Time For God Conference today before she leaves Toton in the summer to pursue ventures new!

Tuesday - I'm on a day off, Amy is still at the Conference.

Wednesday - I'll be at Costa in the afternoon from about 3 pm onwards.

Thursday - Amy gets back from "up North" in time for Showcase and Cafe, I'll be at Showcase and then the Circuit meeting of the local Methodist churches in the evening.

Friday - Play and Praise and Youth Club are both on at the usual times. We now have spaces again at youth club for new members, so if friends want to come along, please invite them!

Sunday - there's an all age service at St Peter's at 10 30 pm, and at Breathe Deeper in the evening we have a panel of people to quiz about Pentecost. Got a question? Come and ask! Usual time, 7.00 pm in the youth room at St Peter's.

We have secured £16,500 since January for this project, and are aiming for a total around £22,000. Please pray for the grant decision being made this week for our application for £2,500, which will make a big difference if we get it!

And then it was gone! This half term is already almost over. It's a Bank Holiday on Monday next week too, as we start half term, so this is a double-header as they say.

Tonight I'm at the Leadership team meeting for the churches.

Tomorrow I'm on a day off.

Wednesday I'll be at Costa in the afternoon from about 3 onwards.

Thursday Showcase is on at the usual time at George Spencer, and Cafe Breathe is on in the evening at TMC as usual.

Friday Play and Praise is on at Toton Methodist in the afternoon and Youth Club is on at the usual time. We're heading out on a chip walk if the weather is good, if it's not we'll have chips at church! If you haven't completed a consent form for it, please do so, I've attached one.

Saturday - look out for a walking brick! As part of our fundraising for the Zambia trip, we are carrying a house brick for 18 miles or so around 17 Methodist Churches in the area. We are leaving Toton Methodist at about 8.00 am, and will walk through the day to call at all the churches. You can sponsor us by visiting www.habitatforhumanity.org.uk/totonchurches. We've secured over £14,000 since January, and need approximately another £8,000 to cover the cost of travel, build materials, accommodation and insurance etc.

Sunday will see a very tired me at services at both Toton Churches at 10.30 am. There is no Breathe Deeper this Sunday evening.

Bank Holiday Monday brings Amy back to these shores, and a quiet week to catch up on paperwork! We'll both be in Costa on Wednesday June 1st from 3 pm and may well add another Costa in, keep an eye on the blog and our Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/breathetoton.

Well, Amy picked a good week to be away, she's taken the sunshine with her by the looks of things! If you're reading this at home in the US of A Amy, you were with us in spirit at the assembly at Bispham this morning!

The rest of my week looks like this, it will be good to catch up with a lot of people over the next few days!

Today I'm at the Curriculum and Pupils Committee at Bispham, and the Toton Churches Leadership Team tonight.

Tomorrow I'm back at Bispham for a full meeting of the Governors.

Wednesday I'll be in Costa in the afternoon and at Toton Churches Council meeting in the evening.

Thursday Showcase is on at the usual time and place at George Spencer after school, and Cafe Breathe is on in the evening, complete with new pool table!

Friday Youth Club as normal in the evening.

Sunday brings around again our Youth Lead Service, and this month it's at Toton Methodist at 6 pm.

That's about it for this week, and I really should be walking everywhere in training for the Great Brick relay on May 28th when a team of us will be carrying a brick around the 17 Methodist churches of the Trent Valley Circuit - out to Breaston and in as far as Radford and Lenton. Look out for the sponsorship opportunities for this Zambia fundraiser.

A big thank you too to everyone who has helped us raise the £14,000 we have secured thus far for that mission trip in the summer.

Good afternoon one and all!

First and foremost, to everyone starting SATS today, we wish you all the best. And to all of you taking GCES's, A Levels etc in the coming weeks, we wish you too all the best.

However, if you need some space from exam pressure, we have the following for you this week:

Wednesday - Amy will be at CU at George Spencer at lunchtime, and we'll both be at Costa in the afternoon before Amy flies back to the US of A for a couple of weeks on Thursday.

Thursday - I'll be at Showcase in the afternoon and at Cafe Breathe in the evening.

Friday - Youth Club is on in the evening as usual. We're really sorry that we've had to close our register this term, but can assure you that there will be space in September, as well as a new group, with a completely new register, starting in September for anyone in Year 7.

Sunday - the usual Sunday morning groups are on at St Peter's for anyone attending a service at either church. In the afternoon there is a visit to Southwell to meet with our Bishop and others from the Diocese. If you are interested in this, please get in touch with me as soon as you can. we'll have a consent form available later today. There is no regular Breathe Deeper session this week, though Soul Cafe will be on at St Peter's if you want to pop along to that from 6 pm. If you are coming to Southwell, please meet at St P's at 1.30 pm, we'll be back about 6 pm. You will need a signed consent form for this, please ask for one.

Breathemail Easter 2011

Ah, holidays at last! Or at least, they are on their way for some of us...

This week, Holy Week, things are slimmed down a bit. Monday to Friday there is an Easter Cafe event at St Peter's for anyone in Year 7 and above. There will be a short reflection each evening on a different part of the Easter story, and plenty of tome to chill and chat over a coffee, hot chocolate etc.

Monday to Thursday the sessions run 7.00 til 8.30 pm

On Good Friday the session starts at 6.00 pm and finishes just before 7 pm in time to get to the meditation at Toton Methodist at 7.

On Wednesday Amy and I will be in Costa for an hour or two from 2.00 pm, it would be good to see anyone that wants to pop in for a chat.

Easter Sunday starts bright and early, there is a service at Attenborough Nature Reserve at 5.30 am! There are also services at both St Peter's and Toton Methodist through the day, details on www.totonchurches.org.

After that, Amy and I are on holidays! We're back in action from Wednesday May 4th and look forward to catching up with everyone!

Afternoon all,

Finally the last week of term is here, unless of course you go to Trent or are at Uni and you've already finished.... Once this week is out we're got a few things happening in the run up to Easter and then it goes quiet as Amy and I take some time off.

Wednesday I'm at CU this week (definitely! I got mixed up last week...) and Amy and I will both be at Costa, along with a special guest....

Thursday We're both at George Spencer for Showcase in the afternoon and Amy will be at Cafe breathe - I'm at a meeting and will get there if I can before the end.

Friday brings the last Youth Club and Play and Praise of the term, both at the usual times.

Saturday Amy and I go to Banbury for Team Leader training with Habitat For Humanity before our trip to Zambia in the summer.

Sunday sees services at both churches in the morning and Breathe Deeper in the evening, 7.00 pm at St P's.

Throughout Holy Week we are running an Easter Cafe, open to anyone in Year 7 and above, meeting at Toton Methodist each evening. Times will be confirmed soon, but we'll spend some of the time each evening looking at different parts of the Easter story.

Zambia Update: We heard late last week where in Zambia we will be working; we're going to be building as part of the Orphaned and Vulnerable Children Project in Chazanga, a slum on the northern outskirts of Lusaka, the capital city. Please continue to support the team travelling as we fundraise and prepare for the trip in August.

Ok, so who fell for an April Fool gag last Friday? I was at the dentist and had to check he was serious when he said he didn't want to see me for 9 months..... Twas true, though, so my new Years Eve is due to kick of with a visit back to the dentist.....

Anyway, this week is looming large already, and very busy, so here we go.

Wednesday - I'm going to be at George Spencer twice; at lunchtime for the Christian Union and in the evening I'll be there with Sarah and Nikki selling chicks at the Pamper Evening to raise money for the Zambia trip in the summer. In the afternoon Amy and I will be at Costa. (We'll update via Facebook if that changes.)

Thursday sees Years 3 and 4 from Bispham visiting Experience Easter at Toton Methodist Church. In the afternoon Amy and I go to George Spencer for Showcase and then Cafe Breathe is on in the evening. Experience Easter will also be open for an hour or so until 8.00 pm if you want to come along and see what it's all about.

Friday brings the last Yr 3 group through Experience Easter, then it's on to Play and Praise in the afternoon and Youth Club in the evening.

Sunday there are services at both St Peter's and Toton Methodist in the morning and there is a team meeting for the Zambia trip in the afternoon at St P's as well. Breathe Deeper is on at the usual time on Sunday evening too.

And after all that, we're into the last week of term! Where has it all gone....? There'll be details next week of our Easter events, and keep an eye out for the forthcoming Breathe newsletter.

Hi Everyone,

This week is a double-header as I'm off next Monday and Tuesday, as is Amy. We've both got sleepovers this Friday and Saturday night as part of the Toton Churches weekend at home, so we're taking an extra day off next Monday!

This Week:

Wednesday - I'm at CU at George Spencer at lunchtime, we're both at Costa in the afternoon and then it's Toton Churches Council in the evening, 7.30 pm at St Peter's.

Thursday - we're both at Showcase in the afternoon at George Spencer, and there is no Cafe Breathe in the evening as many people are going to see Fame at George Spencer.

Friday - Play and Praise is on in the afternoon as normal, but regular youth club is cancelled as the sleepover kicks off at 8.00 pm.

Saturday - there are activities throughout the day as part of the Churches weekend at home. Tickets for the barn dance are still available. There is a sleepover for Years 7 and up on after the barn dance. (And don't forget to put your clocks forward!)

Sunday - there is one combined service at 10.00 am as part of the churches weekend. There is no Breathe Deeper on Sunday evening.

Next Week:

Wednesday: Amy is at CU and we're both in Costa in the afternoon. The children's work meeting is on in the evening at Toton Methodist.

Thursday: We're both at Showcase and Cafe Breathe is back on after it's Fame break.

Friday: Youth Club is back to normal this week.

Sunday: It's Mothering Sunday, and there are services at both Toton Methodist and St Peter's to mark the occasion. Breathe Deeper is on in the evening as well.

Creative way to engage with the Bible!

Last week we talked a bit about how we could engage with the Bible. I mentioned that I listen to podcasts that contain a short Bible passage, some explanation, and then some application to our lives. They're only about 5 minutes long, which makes them easy to fit into a busy day. If you go to wordlive.org, you'll find these podcasts and a bunch of other cool multimedia ways of engaging with the Bible. Check it out!

Hi everyone,

Firstly, if you did the stair-a-thon on Saturday night, thank you, and I feel your tiredness and sore legs! (14 of us climbed the stairs at St Peter's 900 times to raise money for the Zambia trip, there are photos on www.totonchurches.org.) Fundraising for the trip is going really well, we are approaching the £8,000 mark! (If you have been knitting chicks, thank you and please now stop as we have reached the three hundred mark.)

This week is as busy as most, and again there are a few future events to flag later, so here we go with this week:

Monday: The Toton Churches Lent Course begins tonight at St Peter's, from 7.45 pm, looking at prayer over the coming 5 Mondays. I'm at the Police and Communities Together meeting in Inham Nook beforehand.

Tuesday: My legs will still be recovering after the stair-a-thon so my day off will be spent resting! (As I'm sure will Amy's.)

Wednesday: Amy is at CU at George Spencer at lunchtime, we're both at Costa in the afternoon, and I'm travelling back to WW2 with the Yr 6 classes from Bispham on a field trip to Beaumanor Hall for the day as well.

Thursday: We're both at Showcase at George Spencer in the afternoon and Cafe Breathe in the evening.

Friday: We'll both be at Youth Club in the evening, Amy is at Play and Praise in the afternoon.

Sunday: I'm preaching at the services at St P's this Sunday, and at the 10.30 services there are as usual groups for all ages of children and teenagers, though from this week on all groups now meet at St Peter's.

Looking Ahead:

As we plan for September we are looking at how we can improve on the children's groups we offer, and on Wednesday March 30th there is an open meeting for anyone with an interest in children's (11's and under) activities within the churches. If you are a parent, already involved as a leader or helper, are in one of our groups already or have an opinion on what should happen, please come along to Toton Methodist Church for 7.30 pm.

Sleepovers:

Please book by this weekend for the sleepovers so we can organise food etc.

Soul Survivor:

The next booking deadline is next Friday, so please get in touch if you want to book a place.

Easter is looming! If you are looking out for an alternative way of giving someone some chocolate this Easter, we have two options to offer you! The Real Easter Egg is a Fairtrade egg with a message, and the second choice is to buy one of our own hand-knitted chicks that comes with as free Cadbury's Creme Egg inside! They are very similar to this one:

We are selling them for £2 each or 3 for £5 with all proceeds going to the Zambia trip. Keep your eyes open for where you can buy them.

Morning all, and what a glorious morning it is!

This week sees the beginning of Lent, and if you want to take an active approach to Lent this year, have a look at this link about the Live Lent challenges. Monday - Amy is at Rainbows, Brownies and Guides this evening.

Tuesday - We are both on days off on Pancake Day/Shrove Tuesday.

Wednesday - I'm at CU this week at George Spencer and we're both at Costa in the afternoon. At 7.30 pm there's an Ash Wednesday service at St Peter's.

Thursday - We're both at Showcase this week, and Cafe Breathe is on at TMC in the evening as well.

Friday - Amy is at Play and Praise in the afternoon, we're both at Youth Club in the evening.

Saturday - there is a sponsored stair climb at St Peter's from 7.00 pm for the Zambia trip. We're climbing the stairs 850 times, the equivalent of climbing from sea level to the highest point in Zambia at over 7,000 ft. There's more about the trip to Zambia on www.totonchurches.org.

Sunday - There's a all-age service at St P's at 10.30 am, and there is no Breathe Deeper in the evening as we recover from the stair-a-thon. From 9.30 am we'll also be serving bacon butties for £2.00 (including a drink) in the lounge at St P's in aid of the Zambia trip.

Church Weekend events (last weekend in March):

Sleepovers - the direct links in last weeks email didn't work properly, so if you need to download the forms please go to www.totonchurches.org and click on the Youthwork tab, you'll find the download links there. We are running two sleepovers, one on the Friday night for Years 3 to 6 and one for Years 7 and above on the Saturday night.

Barn dance - Tickets for this are still available at £5 per person, including supper and drinks, and this event is open to all! Please see Andy Glascott, Maralyn Staniforth or Meryl Lacey.

The shortest month of the year is almost out and we're into the second half of this term... Things pick up again from this week, so here we go:

Monday Amy is at Brownies and so on tonight, I'm at Leadership Team.

Tuesday We're both on a day off

Wednesday Amy will be at Christian Union at George Spencer, and we'll both be at Costa in the afternoon. As it's the first Wednesday in the month I'm spending some time praying about the future programme and so on for Breathe. If you have any ideas or suggestions please feel free to forward them.

Thursday We're both at George Spencer for Showcase, the movie for this half term is How to Train Your Dragon. Cafe Breathe is on this evening again after half term.

Friday Amy is at Play and Praise and we're both at Youth Club in the evening.

Sunday The regular services and youth and children's groups are on at 10.30 am at both churches, and Breathe Deeper is on in the evening.

Looking ahead, we have 2 sleepovers coming up at the end of March, for existing embers of youth and children's groups only. For Years 3 to 6 there wil be no youth club on March 25th, but the details of the sleepover can be found here. The following night, March 26th, after the Barn Dance there is a sleepover for Years 7 and up, details here.Both of these events are part of the Toton Churches Weekend at Home. More details of the whole weekend can be found on www.totonchurches.org.

There will also be events coming up around Easter at the end of April, we'll let you know about those in due course.

Afternoon everyone!

First up, news of 2 very interesting links that landed in my inbox in the last few days, one of them with a prize of up to £500 for you to claim!

The first one is here - http://www.regenerationsummit.org/ - a chance to meet with the Archbishops of York and Canterbury and tell them what you think should be done to make Christianity more accessible to young people. You need to act fast as the closing date is this Wednesday! This one is for anyone aged 15 to 21. Although it is a school day, there is support for this from the Church nationally and it could count as educational. If you are successful we will arrange transport for you with the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham!

The second one, with the prizes attached, is here - http://www.archbishopofcanterbury.org/3110. Write an essay on one of the various topics and win a cash prize! There are various age categories from 13 to 21 years old. Visit the site and have a look.

This week Amy is on holiday, so I'll be covering most of our regular groups/meetings etc. This week we have:

Tuesday - pop along to Toton Methodist Church at 7.30 pm to hear first-hand from someone who has been to South Africa recently with Habitat For Humanity.

Wednesday - Christian Union at George Spencer and I'll be in Costa from 3 pm onwards.

Thursday - Showcase at George Spencer in the afternoon and Cafe Breathe in the evening.

Friday - Play and Praise in the afternoon and Youth Club in the evening. Parents, please feel free to pop down any time after 7.15 and have a coffee and a chat in the back room.

Saturday - I'm planting trees with the Cubs in the morning around the Toton Fields area.

Sunday - The usual groups are on during the morning services and Breathe Deeper is on from 7.00 til 8.30 pm at St P's.

Next week is half term, and there will be a bit of a lull in activities, with most groups taking a break for the week. If you are on the Zambia travelling team, don't forget we have a team meeting on Sunday Feb 27th at the end of half term.

I'll be taking some extra time off over half term, and things will pick up again from Feb 28th.

Afternoon all,

Somewhere, somehow, January has been and gone, anyone see it, I certainly didn't? Anyway, this week is here, so onwards!

Tuesday - Amy and I are both on days off, Amy no doubt watching re-runs of the Superbowl!

Wednesday - Amy will be at CU at George Spencer at lunchtime, we'll both be at Costa in the afternoon.

Thursday - We're both at George Spencer in the afternoon for Showcase, Base 4 after school, and Cafe Breathe is on in the evening as well. (Don't forget to pop along to help with the pre-cooking etc for Saturday night if you are cooking at the African Banquet!)

Friday - Play and Praise is on in the afternoon and Youth Club in the evening.

Saturday - It's African Banquet Night! If you've got your ticket, we'll see you there at 7.00 pm (AST!) at Toton Methodist. I have had one ticket returned to me, so if you would like it, please email me, first come, first served! (Sorry, it is ticket only this one....)

Sunday - Aspects of Love Actually is the theme for this months All Age worship at St Peter's, 10.30 am, all welcome! Breathe Deeper is on in the evening at St P's as well, from 7.00 til 8.30 pm.

A quick heads up for the week after next, Richard Harrison, from Grangewood, was in South Africa last September with Habitat For Humanity, and is visiting Toton Methodist on Tuesday Feb 15th at 7.30 pm. This is a great chance to find out first hand what Habitat trips are like.

Morning everyone,

We've started this weeks events already, Amy and I were in Bispham for assembly this morning.... The rest of the week looks like this:

Tuesday Amy and I are both on days off.

Wednesday Amy will be at Christian Union at George Spencer at lunchtime, and we'll both be at Costa in the afternoon. In the evening I'm running a training session at St Peter's (7.45 to 9.30 pm) for anyone interested in using video in worship - whether that's Youtube, running the camera, playing DVD's and matching a video clip to your theme. Download the info here for more.

Thursday Showcase is on as usual at George Spencer in Base 4 after school, and Cafe breathe opens it's doors once more in the evening at Toton Methodist.

Friday play and Praise and Youth Club are both on at the usual times at Toton Methodist.

Sunday evening brings a youth led worship service at 6.00 pm, followed by Breathe Deeper at 7.00 pm.

Soul Survivor If you want to book for this, and take advantage of the cheapest tickets, please, please let me know by Wednesday at the absolute very latest!

Zambia we're getting into full swing for this trip in August, please keep an eye out for the fundraising events and much more information over the coming weeks. Good morning everyone,

This week is relatively straightforward, though Amy is away at her mid-service conference with Time For God until Thursday.

Today - Amy travels to her Conference

Tuesday - I'm going to the Methodist Circuit Meeting to share about our Hot Chocolate give-away and the trip to Zambia with Habitat For Humanity this August.

Wednesday - I'll be at CU at George Spencer at lunchtime. This term we'll be concentrating on offering support to anyone taking exams, so if you would like to be prayed for or with, drop in to Room 65 (Upper Site) at lunchtime! I'll also be in Costa in the afternoon.

Thursday - Showcase is on as usual in Base 4 after school at George Spencer, and Cafe Breathe is on in the evening. Amy travels back from her Conference today as well.

Friday - Play and Praise in on in the afternoon, and youth club in the evening.

Saturday - if anyone remembers Barbara Crockett from her time in Toton, she'll be at Toton Methodist between 10 am and noon, refreshments available, and she'll be signing copies of her new book as well.

Sunday - After the seasonal changes over the last few weeks, we are back to worshipping at 10.30 at both churches this week, with regular groups for all ages. Breathe Deeper meets at St Peter's at 7.00 pm as well.

Soul Survivor - this Friday is also the closing date for the first round of bookings for this years trip. More details are available on www.totonchurches.org, and you can download the flyer from this link. Spaces will be available if you want to book later in the year, but the price goes up the closer to the event you book.

Habitat for Humanity - We've talked about it for quite a while, but we are now ready to kick start our fundraising for this summers trip to Zambia. There will be loads of info coming out over the next few weeks about this exciting trip, please keep an eye out for details of the African Banquet, the Zambian Stair Climb and more.

Morning everyone,

Next weekend is a busy one, particularly if you are coming to the Panto with youth club or on the Habitat team, keep an eye open later on! Before we get there though, this week looks like this:

Amy and I are both on days off tomorrow.

Wednesday I'm on a prayer and listening day, if there is anything you would like me to pray about, please email me by Tuesday evening or text me during the day on Wednesday. I'll also be at CU at george Spencer at lunchtime, and Amy and I will be at Costa in the afternoon.

Thursday brings Showcase at George Spencer after school and Cafe Breathe in the evening.

Friday Youth Club is going to the Panto at QMC. There will be no session at Toton Methodist Church! If you have booked in, please be there for 5.20 pm as in the letter sent out last Friday. If you haven't booked in and want to come, please get in touch with me as soon as possible - email this address or phone/text Andy on 07791 703480. Once the tickets are gone, they're gone!

Sunday There are the usual groups at the 10.30 services at both Toton Methodist and St Peter's churches. At 2 pm there's a planning meeting for the Habitat trip at St P's ion the youth room, and Breathe Deeper is on at 7.00 pm at St P's as well.

Good afternoon and Happy New Year!

For a moment this morning it looked like we were picking up where the snow left of this year..... Although it's still gloomy and cold, we have some summer events to look forward to, including Soul Survivor and a project with Habitat for Humanity in Africa. More on those later, here's this week as things start up again after the Christmas break.

Wednesday - Christian Union at George Spencer kicks things off this week, at lunch time, and Amy and I will be at Costa in the afternoon as well.

Thursday - Showcase re-starts today in Base 4 at George Spencer, straight after school, and Cafe Breathe opens it's doors again in the evening at Toton Methodist (Years 9 and above)

Friday - We re-start Youth Club again this week, (Years 3 to 6), 6.15 to 7.45 at Toton Methodist.

Sunday - Breathe Deeper gets going again at St Peter's, up in the Youth Room from 7.00 til 8.30 pm, Years 7 and above.

Next Friday (Jan 14th) we are organising a trip to the QMC Panto for youth club, please make sure you have booked your ticket by this Friday please! (Email or phone/text Andy for more details.)

Summer Stuff!

The first deadline for Soul Survivor is looming! Book by Friday January 21st to get the cheapest price of £120 to cover your food, entrance, camping, travel, insurance and other important stuff. The event runs from Friday July 29th to Wednesday August 3rd. Click on the link to find out more about the event. The trip is open to anyone (currently) in Year 7 and above. Booking forms are available here. After January 21st the cost per person goes up.....

We are also in the middle of planning a trip to Africa with Habitat for Humanity, there will be more coming out int he next few weeks about it, so please keep an eye out for that. We are planning to travel in August this year.

We have lots in the pipeline for this year, please keep an eye on what's happening, it would be great to see you at as many events as possible.

There once was a rumour of warmer weather....

Oh well, on with the show!

This afternoon Amy and Jo are visiting Banks Road for their Christmas Carols, and nativity.

Wednesday is a busy day - Amy is at George Spencer for Christian Union at lunchtime, I'm off to Makro to buy 400+ cups etc for hot chocolate the following week and in the evening a bunch of us are setting up for "Experience Christmas" that classes from Banks Road and Chetwynd are coming to on Thursday and Friday.

Thursday as well as the Experience Christmas sessions (which are for the school groups only) Showcase and Cafe Breathe are both on as usual.

Friday Experience Christmas finishes this morning before Play and Praise in the afternoon and Youth Club in the evening.

On Sunday I'll be running the video camera at All Age as we welcome Sonshine Puppets to Toton Churches for the 10.30 service at St P's. There's a Habitat meeting on Sunday at 2.30 pm for those of you involved in that (spaces still available if you want to come to Africa next summer, must be 16 next August, email us) and in the evening at St P's the Breathe Deeper Christmas Party is on.

Suddenly, December is only around the corner - when did that happen????

As Christmas approaches, my diary seems to get more and more full, here's this weeks selection for you:
Wednesday: I'll be at CU at George Spencer on Wednesday, and again this week there is no Costa session as some of us are rehersing and recording a sketch for next week's Christmas Carols. Yes, next week's.....
Thursday: I won't be at George Spencer for Showcase, as it's an Inset day, however I will be at Cafe Cameo, at Toton methodist Church from 10.00 til 12.00 on Thursday morning. if you are around, drop in for a brew and a natter.
Friday: Play and Praise is on at the usual time, as is Youth Club, both at TMC.
Sunday: There are the usual youth and childrens groups during the moring services at both churches, and in the evening, from 6.00pm, there is a youth-led service at St Peter's. Breathe Deeper is on afterwards.

Next Week:
Here's a heads up for next Thursday, at 7.00pm we are running our (now) annual Christmas Carol Celebration for youth groups from all around Toton - Scouts, Guides, youth clubs and the like. It's open to any group or individual, and doors open at 6.30, to finish about 8.30 after a celebration, worship and refreshments. This year the service has been put together by a team of 6 of our teenagers, thank you all for your effort Emma, Emma, Scott, Sarah, Caroline and Steph.

After that, the Christmas events come thick and fast, with local schools visiting both churches for Experience Christmas and their Carol concerts, parties, and of course, the Christingles on Christmas Eve. Keep an eye out next week for more details.

Morning everyone,

Well, it's now only a month and a bit til that great event - hot chocolate! Christmas is coming too....

Between now and then though, there's a bit happening, here's this week:

Today: I'm in Bispham this afternoon with the Year 5 classes, and Amy is on her way back from seeing her beloved Denver Broncos being beaten yesterday at Wembley....

Tomorrow: We're both on days off.

Wednesday: I'll be at George Spencer for Cu at lunchtime, and we'll both be at Costa in the afternoon.

Thursday: We'll both be at George Spencer for Showcase, and at Cafe Breathe in the evening.

Friday: Amy will be at Play and Praise in the afternoon, and we'll both be at Youth Club in the evening.

Sunday: As well as the usual groups in the morning at the services at Toton Churches, there is an extra service at 3 pm for Rachel Glascott's Accreditation as a Local Preacher in the Methodist Church. Hello all!

Happy Half Term! I hope you are all enjoying your time off. None of the usual groups are on during the week because of half term. Thus it is a very quiet week this week, but there are a few things happening, so here goes.

Wednesday - We will be at Costa at the usual time, 3 - 4:30pm. Come along and hang out with us!

Friday - We will have another hang out session at Costa, from 1 - 3pm.

Sunday - In the morning there is a joint service at 10:30am at Toton Methodist, with all the young people's groups happening there.

In the evening there will be no Breathe Deeper, but instead there will be an Alternative Halloween party at the Methodist church from 6 - 8pm. This event is open to Years 3-13 and will be a fun evening of games, cafe space, bobbing for apples, and lots more! We ask that once you come, you stay through to 8pm, and if you want to dress up, that's fine, just be respectful to the fact we are having our party in a church (no witch or devil costumes please!).

Also, Sunday is the final deadline for handing in booking forms for the Habitat for Humanity trip to Africa. We really cannot accept any forms after Sunday (Oct. 31st)! So please get them in to us this week!

As many of you are no doubt aware, there are a few water issues in Toton today! At this point, we plan to have youth club as normal this evening, and will provide drinks in an alternative way! We would also plan that the toilets would be out of use except in the most urgent of cases.

Afternoon everyone,

My apologies that I'm a bit late today, I was in Bispham for assembly this morning. Over the coming days, the week looks like this:

Today: Amy heads off for the first of this years' conferences with Time For God. She's back on Thursday afternoon.

Tuesday: I'm back at Bispham for a governors meeting.

Wednesday: I'll be at George Spencer at lunchtime for Christian Union (Room 65, Technology), and at Costa from 3 til about 4.30 pm as well. That evening I'm at a planning meeting for the Christmas carol services - if you are on the BLT course and can make it, please let us know through Facebook if you can make it.

Thursday: It's back to George Spencer in the afternoon for Showcase in Base 4 and at Cafe Breathe in the evening. There is also a new music session at TMC on Thursday from 7.30 as well.

Friday: We're all at youth club at the usual times, and I'm off to the Scouts annual birthday bash afterwards.

Sunday: I'm preaching at St P's in the morning, there will be the usual groups at the usual times and churches. Breathe Deeper is on at St P's from 7 til 8.30 for Year 7 up.

Other events coming up:

Halloween - we are running an alternative Halloween event at Toton Methodist from 6 til 8 pm for anyone in Year 3 and above, right up to Year 13. There will be a range of games and activities for everyone to dip in and out of, as well as a bring-it-all together bit at the end.

November 7th - Many of you will know my wife Rachel from youth and children's activities. She is being recognised as a Local Preacher in the Methodist Church on the 7th, at 3 pm. The service is at St P's, with refreshments afterwards at TMC. The service is open to all, please do feel welcome to come along.

Soul Survivor - We're taking a group to this again next summer, the cost starts at £120 if you book by January 21st, rising to £140 if you book after April 22nd. It's open to anyone in Year 7 and above, and the cost covers 5 nights camping accommodation, all meals, transport and entry to all events. There's more at www.soulsurvivor.com.

Global Village with Habitat for Humanity - The registration packs for this are out, please email if you want one or to find out more about this trip to Africa.

Hi Everyone,

I'm back in action this Monday, so here we go with this week and a couple of things for next summer (already!)

Tuesday - Amy and I are both on a day off tomorrow

Wednesday - I'm on a prayer and listening day, essentially spending time praying for the work we do and planning for future events. During the day we'll both be at CU (at George Spencer, Room 65 @ lunchtime) and Costa (from 3 pm til about 4.30 pm)

Thursday - Showcase and Cafe Breathe are on at the usual times (3.30 at George Spencer and 7.00 at TMC)

Friday - Youth Club is on at Toton Methodist from 6.15 til 7.45 for Years 3 to 6.

Sunday - the usual groups are on in the morning and Breathe Deeper is on in the evening at St Peters.

Looking ahead to the end of half term, we will be running an alternative Halloween event on Sunday October 31st at TMC, from 6 til 8 pm. More info over the coming weeks.

We are already planning for summer 2011, and have a couple of dates for your diary already:

July 29th to August 3rd 2011 - Soul Survivor. We took a group this year, and are planning to bring a group again next summer. Booking forms will be out by the end of this month. It's open to anyone currently in Year 7 or above, and more info is available on http://www.soulsurvivor.com/uk/ss2010/. We'll be going to Week A.

August 2011 (Provisional) We are moving forward with plans for a trip to Africa with Habitat for Humanity (http://www.habitatforhumanity.org.uk/Page.aspx?pid=195), which will be open to anyone over the age of 16 at the time of travel. I'm putting together an information pack this afternoon, and will send it out to anyone who was at the evening with Stefan last Thursday, via email. If you are interested, and would like a copy of the pack, please let me know.

Hello all!

Happy Monday morning! Andy has switched his day off this week to Monday so you've got a new voice on the weekly e-mail. There's a bit more than the usual events going on this week so here goes...

Monday - I'm going to Brownies and Guides in the evening, and Andy is off for the day.
Tuesday - Andy is working because he has a meeting in the evening, but it's my day off.
Wednesday - We are both up at George Spencer at lunchtime for Christian Union, and then at Costa from 3 to 4:30 in the afternoon. Wenesday evening there will be powerpoint training at 7:30 at St Peters for anyone who is interested.
Thursday - We are back at George Spencer after school to watch more of Toy Story at Showcase. Then in the evening, Cafe Breathe is hosting Stefan McNally from Habitat for Humanity at the Methodist Church at 7pm, until 8:30. He will be talking about Habitat's work around the world and the possibility of a trip with them next summer. If you are interested, please come along. Everyone is welcome!
Friday - In the afternoon I will be at the Methodist church for Play and Praise, from 1:30 to 3, and then Breathe Youth Clubs will be on in the evening, starting at 6:15, for anyone Years 3 - 6.
Sunday - Sunday School is on as usual in the morning and then Breathe Deeper will be back to normal at St Peters starting at 7pm.

Thursday we welcome Stefan McNally from Habitat for Humanity to an open evening at Cafe breathe. It's open to anyone from Toton Churches and the wider community of our groups, and we'll be looking at what's involved in going on a house-building trip with Habitat. Good morning everyone!

As you can see (assuming you're reading this in your inbox), we are now working from a new email address. You can get in contact directly with me, Andy Glascott, and Amy Pennenga through this address, and we can pass on email to any of the other members of the Breathe youth and children's team at Toton Churches. Both myself and Amy regularly check and use this email account. There's more about it further on, please make sure you read it.

This Week:

Tomorrow I'm back into the regular pattern of taking Tuesday as my day off.

Wednesday morning I'm up at George Spencer for sign-up day in the morning and CU at lunchtime in Room 65. I'll be at Costa in the afternoon from about 3. For those that are involved, or want to be, the Circuit Education and Youth Committee is meeting at Toton Methodist at 7.45 this evening.

Thursday brings the start of Showcase in Base 4 at George Spencer, from 3.30 to 4.30, for pupils in Year 7 and above. Cafe Breathe re-starts on Thursday evening as well, at Toton Methodist from 7.00 til 8.30 for anyone in Year 9 and above.

Friday sees youth club re-start at Toton Methodist for Year 3 to 6's. We're running from 6.15 to 7.45pm again this year. Amy won't be there this week, but will be back in the country from Friday all being well.

Sunday brings the usual Sunday morning groups at both St peter's and Toton Methodist for all ages, and Breathe Deeper is on at St P's in the evening from 7.00 til 8.30 pm for anyone in Year 7 and above.

A couple of dates for further ahead:

Wednesday Sept 29th I'm running a Powerpoint training evening at St Peter's from 7.30 pm for anyone interested in putting together Powerpoint presentations for use at youth group, cell group, worship services or indeed other situations as well.

Thursday Sept 30th brings Stefan McNally from Habitat for Humanity to Cafe breathe to talk about the work of Habitat and the possibility of a trip to Africa with them next summer. That evening will be open to anyone interested, though to travel with Habitat you have to be 16 at the time of travel.

Email, Facebook and Texting:

Over the summer we have been reviewing how we use the web and so on, and have made a couple of changes. Firstly, and most obviously given that you are (hopefully still) reading this email, is the new email address. Both mine and Amy's "Toton Churches" email addresses now point to this email account, and all youth and children's work related email should come through here.

We have also set up a new Facebook account - Breathe Toton. Again, both Amy and I have access to this and either of us could be logged on at any given time, and both of us will read the wall posts, the inbox etc for that account. If you have connections with Toton and/or Breathe and have friended either of us on our personal Facebook accounts, please re-friend us on the Breathe Toton account, and we will then remove the link through our personal accounts.

In the real world, as part of our child protection policy we avoid having one adult in a room with a single young person at any time, and we are extending this to the online world as well.

Many of you use text messages to keep in touch and check up on the latest information. Amy and I will continue to respond to texts, but please be aware that we will be sharing texts with each other and/or members of the youth work management committee. We won't respond to texts received after 10 pm until the following day, and we are unlikely to respond to texts received on a Tuesday, which for both of us is our midweek day off.

Morning all,

The new term is almost here, schools re-open this week and we are almost set for the weeks ahead here at Breathe. All the groups start from this Sunday evening, so that you can have a few days getting back into the routine of school and homework etc before we add to your schedule!

Tuesday - I'm at a Diocesan youth workers meeting

Wednesday - There's a planning meeting for Christian Union at George Spencer, if you'd like to be involved it's at lunchtime and I'm presuming in Room 65 as usual.

Thursday - No Showcase or Cafe Breathe this week.

Friday - I'm taking my day off this week today to fit in with some time off Rachel has got lined up.

Saturday - There's a harvest supper at St Peter's to celebrate the all new, all waterproof roof!

Sunday - I'm leading the 10.30 service at St Peter's, a combined harvest celebration, and Breathe Deeper is on this Sunday evening, 7.00 til 8.30 at St Peters, for anyone in Year 7 and above.

Looking further ahead, on Thursday September 30th we are hosting Stefan McNally from Habitat for Humanity to explore options and possibilities for a trip to Africa in partnership with Habitat to build homes for people in that part of the world. That's at 7.00 pm at Toton Methodist, and is open to all, though the minimum age limit for a trip with Habitat is 16 at the time of travel (summer 2011).

On a different note, if anyone is interested in playing hockey this season, I'm a member of Nottingham Players, based at Highfields on University Boulevard, and our academy section starts on Tuesday Sept 14th, there's more info here. (My first pre-season session is tomorrow, which will explain any pained expressions of soreness on Wednesday!)

In the meantime, we pray that the arrival of the new term isn't too stressful, and that all of you starting a new chapter at a new school, college or Uni this autumn settle in well and find your way around without too much difficulty!

Hi,

Just a quick update to say that the Soul Survivor DVDs will be available for those who were there at the celebration at TMC on Monday (10 am to 1 pm). I also need to correct myself, in that the bacon butties aren't free, though the price will be minimal. I will be first in the queue most likely either way!

Also, the Soul Survivor one-year Bibles are on order. If you have already ordered one, I'll let you know when it arrives. We will have three spare when the order arrives next week, so if you do want one, please let me know as soon as you can. Given the combination of Bank Holiday, day off and training event, there won't be a weekly email next week.

Hi Everyone,

Well, I'm back from holidays and sat at my desk sorting my diary out for the next couple of weeks. We're still finalising the dates groups will restart this year, and will write to anyone we have an address for that was involved in groups at the end of last term - whether that is Cafe, Youth Club or Breathe Deeper. Unlike previous years, we won't be writing to everyone on our list as we have gone through a few changes over the last 12 months. Over the next two weeks though, these bits and pieces are happening:

Wednesday August 25th - I'll be in Costa from 2 pm, anyone who wants to drop in for a chat is more than welcome.

Monday August 30th - there's a celebration at TMC to mark the partnership between Toton Methodist and St Peter's churches. It's open to all, from 10.00 am onwards, with free refreshments including bacon butties. If you would like to come along and help staff the youth stand, please let me know in advance. We'll be serving fruit cocktails as part of it.

Thursday Sept 2nd- I'll be in Costa from 2 pm onwards again.

Sunday Sept 5th is time to say farewell to Mel and Matthew Stoodley as Mel retires from the role of Minister at TMC. There's a faith tea at 4.30 pm, followed by a service at 6.00 pm, all at TMC.

As things become more confirmed in terms of dates etc, I'll keep you updated. Enjoy the rest og the summer, and see you in Toton as the summer starts to blend into autumn.

Toton Churches Community Celebration

How's the summer going? Whether you've been home or away I hope that you've been able to do different things outside the routine of school and college.

From 10 - 1pm on bank holiday Monday (30th August) at Toton Methodist church we are holding the "Toton Churches Community Celebration. It's a chance to celebrate our partnerships as churches and with the community. There will be sausage and bacon butties, live music, displays from some of the groups who use our buildings and fun for all the family.

Morning all,

Well, I never thought I'd catch myself saying I was glad it was raining for the sake of the garden, but I am this morning! Now that the rain has arrived, please pray for good weather (dry at least!) for July 30th to August 4th when we take 6 teenagers and 2 leaders to Soul Survivor for 5 nights under canvas.... :-)

This week is our last busy one of the term, here's the info:

Monday Amy and I are in George Spencer this afternoon for Project Spencer sharing about what the churches do in Toton, Amy is at Brownies and Guides etc tonight.

Wednesday I'm at CU at George Spencer at lunchtime and we're both at Costa in the afternoon

Thursday We're hosting "It's Your Move", an event for Year 6 students at Chetwynd and Bispham schools at the Methodist Church in the afternoon and Cafe Breathe is on in the evening. Showcase is also on as usual at George Spencer.

Friday brings the last Play and praise and Youth Club of the term. remember to bring old clothes you can get wet in to youth club, as well as a change of clothes! (More info later in the week about this for people involved.)

Sunday It's the last regular Sunday morning session for the summer, and the last BLT as well in the afternoon for this term too. Breathe Deeper is on at the usual times at Toton Methodist on Sunday evening.

Soul Survivor - I'm expecting wrist bands etc in the post this week, so I'll be in touch with you later in the week with consent forms, final info etc for the trip if you are coming. I'll also be in touch with people who have offered to help with transport etc.

Afternoon everyone,

The end of term is looming,and George Spencer have already made it to the start of next year, welcome to Year 8, 9, 10 or 11 depending on which move you've made! The week's events are below, but before we get there, here are a few other bits and pieces:

Soul Survivor, camping kit and transport - we're taking a group to this event this year, and could do with come help with transport on either Friday July 30th at lunchtime or on Wednesday August 4th in the morning to or from the event, taking place at Staffordshire County Showground. If you can help transport a group of 6 teenagers, 2 leaders and their camping kit to the event, please get back to me. Also, we have a list up at Toton Methodist of kit we would like to borrow - cool boxes, camp chairs etc. If you have any we can borrow, please let us know!

It's Your Move - Thank you to those who have already volunteered to help out with this event next week. Please meet at Toton Methodist Church at 1.30 pm so we can run thought last minute arrangements. There is still space for one or two more volunteer helpers for this event, please do feel free to offer to help out!

Child Protection - over the last couple of months we've been updating and reviewing our Child Protection Policy, particularly with an eye on the fast moving and ever changing world of instant messaging, social networking etc. There will be more info coming out in the summer holidays, so please keep an eye out for it.

Location, Location, Location - sadly, we're not going on TV with a property programme, but you may well have seen scaffolding going up around St Peter's today, it will be there for the next couple of months. As a result, all church-based activities have moved to Toton Methodist Church from now until September.

Photograph Toton in 24 hours - As part of our links with the Friends of Toton Fields group, I'm overseeing a photography competition called Toton24. Take your pictures of Toton and post them on the Toton24 Facebook page here. The catch is that the photos must all be taken on Saturday July 24th and the best 24 (spot the theme yet?) will be printed and displayed at an event in the Greenwood Centre in September. The full rules for the competition are on the Discussions section of the page. Please pass the link on to anyone who might be interested.

Anyway, enough of the other stuff, here's this week:

Monday - there's a Sunday School meeting this evening at 7.30 at Heather's, please check with Amy if you aren't sure where to go.

Wednesday - Amy will be at CU at George Spencer, we'll both be at Costa in the afternoon and in the evening there's an All Age Team meeting, again at Heathers, but at 8.00.

Thursday Showcase in the afternoon at George Spencer and Cafe Breathe in the evening (which is open to anyone in Year 9 and above, including those who've just moved up at George Spencer to Year 9).

Friday - beware, there will be teddy bears galore at TMC for the Play and Praise Teddy Bears Picnic in the afternoon, so if you go down to the woods that day..... Youth Club is on in the evening as well. Advance notice that next week is the last week of term, featuring the water party.....

Sunday is All Age Worship Sunday, and Cafe Breathe is on in the evening as well, all at TMC.

Beyond all this, summer is looming, and things will quiet down. After the trip to Soul Survivor there won't be any midweek groups or activities over the summer, Amy and I are going to our respective home countries for a bit of a break and we'll also be preparing the summer mailing that will go out in August.

Evening everyone,

Well, that turned into an evening and a half! I'm just in from church at 10.30, and we were supposed to finish at 8.30.... If you aren't aware of it, there was a fire on High Road and several streets were evacuated. We spent 3 hours serving teas, coffees and more to people who'd been asked rather firmly by the police to leave their homes rather quickly! Anyay, the fuss has all passed, so as I'm away on retreat from tomorrow til Wednesday morning, here's tomorrows weekly email!

Monday - No homeowrk club this week, we've brought it to a close for this term as exams are almost over.

Wednesday - Amy and I will be in Costa from 3 pm onwards if anyone that wants to drop in and have a natter.

Thursday -Showcase is on at George Spencer at the usual times, and Cafe Breathe is on in the evening from 7.00 pm for Year 9 and up.

Friday - Amy is at Play and Praise in the afternoon and in the evening, weather permitting, youth club is on at Attenborough Nature Centre for a treasure hunt at the usual times. Please get in touch if you haven't had a letter about it! Also, if you are a parent and can help out this evening, please let me know, we could do with a couple of pairs of extra eyes!

Sunday Breathe Deeper is on at the usual times, but at Toton Methodist Church.

Early warning too that It's Your Move is happening again for Year 6 pupils, on Thursday July 15th. If you can help out that afternoon, please let me know. A CRB is needed.

And lastly, a reminder that from next Sunday, July 4th, all events etc that normally happen at St Peter's are moving to other venues, mostly Toton Methodis, while a new roof is put on to keep the winter rain out later in the year.

Well, it's the longest day of the year and definitely one of the sunniest. The week's a bit different, so here goes:

Tomorrow: Amy and I have a visit from her TFG Feild Officer in the monring, and one or both of us will be in Costa from 3.30 til about 4.30 tomorrow, cos there's something happening on Wednesday....

Wednesday: Amy will be at CU at George Spencer, and then joining me at Bispham for Sports Day, before the England game kicks off at three....

Thursday: we're both at Showcase in the afternoon and then at Cafe Breathe in the evening.

Friday: Youth Club is on at the normal time, and from 7.15 we're hosting an evening for parents to come and have a coffee before they collect their children at 7.45.

Saturday brings the Raise The Roof tresaure hunt and bbq - please book with Lynne Pearson or the St peter's office if you haven't done so already and want to come along, so we can sort out catering numbers.

Sunday is a busy one with BLT happening for those on our young leaders course from 2 til 4 at St Peters, and Breathe Deeper in the evening at the usual times.

Looking ahead:

On Thursday July 15th we're hosting the annual "It's Your Move" day for Year 6 pupils from Bispham and Chetwynd - if you can help out, and have CRB, please get in touch with me as soon as possible.

At the end of July, we're taking a group to Soul Survivor, and will be looking to borrow some camping equipment, mainly cooking stuff etc. If you have any you can lend us, please let me know.

Once we reach the end of the term, most things will be winding down for the summer as Amy goes home after Soul Survivor and I'm taking a couple of weeks of as well. Keep an eye out for the summer mailing that will be coming out in August with allthe indfo for September.

Afternoon everyone,

Apologies for the later arrival of this weeks email, I've been at a youth workers meeting most of the day so far. There are a few minor changes this week, keep an eye out for them!

Wednesday CU is on at the usual time at George Spencer, and Amy and I will be in Costa in the afternoon from 3 pm onwards.

Thursday sees Showcase at George Spencer at 3.30 pm in Base 4, and Cafe Breathe at 7.00 pm at Toton Methodist.

On Friday there's a football match on at 7.30 pm, though I can't remember who Algeria are playing..... AS a result, we're finishing youth club at 7.15 pm so peope can get home or round to Bispham in time to see the game. Play and Praise is on at the usual time.

Sunday - as well as the usual services etc, there is a Friends of Toton Fields event at the Greenwood Centre from 2 til 4 pm, including Cream Teas and more about the local area, it's wildlife and the Toton Fields environment. There will be activities for children too. Breathe Deeper is on at St peter's at the usual times.

Morning everyone,

Well, it's almost here. World Cup 2010 kicks off in 4 days time and many of us will be juggling watching three football matches a day with homework, revision and social lives for the next few weeks. In the midst of it all, what are our priorities? Events wise, here are this weeks to throw into the mix:

Today - Homework Club is on at Toton Methodist from 4 til 5.30 pm

Wednesday - Christian Union is on at George Spencer at lunchtime in Room 65, and I'll be at Costa in the afternoon to chat with anyone who drops in.

Thursday - Showcase is on at George Spencer in Base 4 at the usual time,and Cafe Breathe is on at Toton Methodist in the evening.

Friday - Play and Praise in the afternoon, followed by Youth club in the evening. Oh, and the football starts.....

Sunday - There's an All Age service at St Peter's at 10.30, and in the afternoon (gentle reminder here for those going) there's a meeting about the Soul Survivor trip at St Peter's from 2 til 4 pm. Breathe Deeper is on in the evening at 7.00 pm at St Peters.

Hopefully, the weather will improve and we'll have a good week, I look forward to seeing people in and around Toton.

Morning everyone,

It's a gloriously sunny one too, let's see how long the summer lasts.....

Today Homework club is on from 4.00 til 5.30 pm and the Friends of Toton Fields are leading a Flora and Fauna walk tonight as well - meet outside the Greenwood Centre at 7 pm.

Wednesday I'm at George Spencer for CU and then Costa in the afternoon while Amy is enjoying a couple of days off.

Thursday Showcase and Cafe Breathe are on at the usual times and places.

Friday Play and Praise in the afternoon and then Youth Club in the evening, both at Toton Methodist Church.

Sunday There is no Breathe Deeper session this weekend, Rachel and I are away and Amy is on Pack Holiday with the Brownies.

We'll be putting a fresh order for Breathe t-shirts and hoodies in soon, please let Amy or me know if you want to order one.

Alton Towers - I now have the photos and video on CD, you can get them from me any time I have them with me if you were there!

Half term is looming, and there will be a lull in things over that week:

Wednesday June 2nd Amy and/or I will be in Costa from 2 pm for an hour or two; if you're passing pop in and say hello.

Afternoon all,

Rachel and I managed to beat the ash cloud, our flight from Dublin landed no worries on Saturday. Some of you will know Bruce Spencer, and that he is travelling back from Afghanistan later this week - please keep him in your prayers as he travels and enjoys a couple of weeks leave from his tour of duty over there. We hope the ash and the RAF combine to let you home Bruce!

This week is kinda busy, so here goes:

Today Homework Club is on at TMC from 4.00 to 5.30 pm

Wednesday Amy and I have a run of events - we're in Bispham school for assembly in the morning before heading up to George Spencer for Christian Union at lunchtime and then on to Costa in the afternoon.

Thursday sees us back at George Spencer for Showcase, and then Cafe Breathe opens it's doors from 7.00 til 8.30 for Years 9 upwards at TMC.

Friday brings Play and praise in the afternoon and youth club (Yrs 3 - 6) at the usual times at TMC.

Sunday morning sees a combined all age group at the moring services. Start off at your normal church, and then activities begin at TMC for all ages with a pick 'n' mix style. In the evening there is a service at 6 pm at St P's for Pentecost, with a youth-led style, followed by a chill and chat time upstairs in the youth room.

Soul Survivor - we have a very small number of places available in the tents we have booked on the Soul Survivor site, if you are interested in joining the group going, please have a word with me as soon as possible.

T-shirts and Hoodies - we're hoping to put a fresh order in for more of the stylish Breathe t-shirts and hoodies, please see me or Amy as soon as possible if you want an order form.

Morning all,

Look on the bright side, it's a Bank Holiday next Monday! As a result, this is a double dose of weekly email dates and info, so here goes:

Today brings homework club to TMC at 4 pm til 5.30.

Tuesday sees Amy and I both on rest days.

Wednesday brings us both to George Spencer for Christian Union in Rm 65 and then we're in Costa for the afternoon from 3, feel free to drop in for a chat.

Thursday and we're back to George Spencer for Showcase before opening Cafe Breathe in the evening at TMC.

Friday and it's Play and Praise in the afternoon for Amy before we all gather at TMC for youth club in the evening.

Sunday brings the usual morning groups, and in the afternoon it's part 4 of the BLT course at St Peter's from 2 til 4 for those of you who are on it.

Next week does indeed bring the first of the Bank Holidays in May, and the week's activities kick off on Wednesday with CU at George Spencer and Costa afterwards.

In the evening on the Wednesday I'm running an evening for anyonew that want's to learn more about using technology in Worship, ranging from Powerpoint to live video feeds.

Thursday and we're back to George Spencer for Showcase before opening Cafe Breathe in the evening at TMC.

Friday and it's Play and Praise in the afternoon for Amy before we all gather at TMC for youth club in the evening.

Saturday May 8th brings our annual pilgrimmage to Alton Towers! I'll be in touch directly later this week with final arrangements for that.

This week is starting off a bit grey outside, lets hope things get better as the week goe son. Here are the activities coming up, keep an eye open for Alton Towers and Soul Survivor stuff later in the email:

Friday sees Amy at Play and Praise in the evening and Breathe Youth Club (junior group) is on in the evening.

Sunday brings the usual groups during the moring services for children and teenagers, and Breathe Deeper is on in the evening, at St Peters, from 7 til 8.30 pm.

Alton Towers:

The closing date for this is next Sunday, all bookings must be in with me by then. The trip is open to anyone in Year 7 and above and currently involved in the groups run by Toton Churches (Cafe, or Sunday morning/evening groups). For more details, please email me as soon as possible.

Soul Survivor:
Another closing date that is looming is Soul Survivor, the date there is Friday April 30th, and the trip is open to anyone currently involved in the church groups and currently in Year 7 or above. Again, for more info, please email me as soon as possible.

For both trips, the closing dates for bookings are very close to the cut-off for cheaper tickets, so while you may be able to bok in after those dates, the cost will most likely go up.

Morning all,

After a break for Easter, we're back into the swing of things, with a new opportunity starting today. Read on....

Monday Amy is launching a weekly homework/revision club this afternoon, from 4.00 pm to 5.30 at Toton Methodist Church. Space to get some support and encouragement with homework/coursework/revision etc.

Tuesday I'm at the Methodist Circuit Education and Youth Committee meeting at Grangewood in the evening.

Wednesday Amy and I are at George Spencer for a Year 9 RS lesson in the morning, still there for CU at lunchtime, and down to Costa for a brew in the afternoon. There's a Sunday School meeting in the evening as well.

Thursday brings the start of Showcase and Cafe Breathe returns in the evening as well.

Friday re-launches Junior Youth Club from 6.15 to 7.45 at Toton Methodist Church.

Sunday sees the usual groups at both churches in the morning and Breathe Deeper at St Peter's in the evening.

Don't forget that the Soul Survivor booking deadline is looking, on April 25th.

Homework Club Begins!

Hi all!

Just a note to let you know that Homework Club will kick off next Monday, April 12th, the first day back at school. I know you don't really want to think about homework or school right now in the midst of your break, but reality will hit again soon! If going back to school on the 12th seems too depressing, look forward to coming along after school and getting some work done with us!

Homework Club will be happening every Monday (starting April 12th) at the Methodist Church in Room 1 (the back room) from 4 to 5:30pm. We'll be offering help, support, and encouragement. It will be a bit more structured than the ones we've done during Half Term and holidays, but similar to them. Give it a try!

Also, for those doing Breathe Leadership Training (BLT), our next session is next Sunday, April 11th.

Ooh, it’s a noisy start to the week! As I write, it’s 8 am, and there’s a new carpet going down in the room above me….. Welcome to the first Monday of the Easter holidays!

As it is the Easter holidays, there are a few things happening this week, and next week is very quiet indeed! I’ve got a week mainly of paperwork this week, and a week off next week. Amy is in a similar situation.

Today we’re both supervising/supporting a homework/revision session from 2 til 4 a St Peters, in the larger room upstairs.

Wednesday brings another homework/revision session at St P’s, this time from 10.30 to 12.30. We’ll be in Costa in the afternoon as well.

Friday we’re at St P’s for an all-age service to mark Good Friday, and on Easter Sunday there are services at 10.30 at both Toton Methodist and St Peter’s churches as the people of Toton Churches celebrate that Jesus death on the cross wasn’t the end of the story but the beginning of our stories of life in all it’s fullness.

For those of you who are awake early on Easter Sunday, there is a service at Attenborough Nature Reserve at 6.30 am, followed by breakfast at Toton Methodist at roughly 7.30 am. Please email or text me if you are coming to the breakfast so we can cater for the right number of people.

In the meantime, have a great break over the next couple of weeks. The regular sessions start again on Sunday April 11^th with Breathe Deeper, with everything back to normal from the week beginning Monday the 12. There is also a BLT session on Sunday 11^th.

Morning all,

Officially, spring has sprung, but it's still kinda wintery outside....

We're counting down to the Easter holidays this week, and we've got some extras on over the holidays as well, so here we go:

Monday I'm at the Community Action Team meeting tonight at the Greenwood Centre, starting at 7.30 pm. It's open to all, so come along and share your views on life in Toton.

Tuesday Amy and I are both on a day off.

Wednesday brings a busy day, Amy and I are both at CU at George Spencer at lunchtime, and at Costa in the afternoon. I'm then off to St P's PCC meeting in the evening.

Thursday brings Showcase to George Spencer, we'll both be there, and Cafe Breathe in the evening at Toton Methodist church.

Friday sees Amy at Play and Praise in the afternoon, and then it's youth club in the evening from 6.15 to 7.45 pm.

Sunday brings services at 10.30 at both churches, but this week we're running one mega-group for ages 7 upwards at TMC for Sunday School. Start at your usual church, we'll make our way up the road for games, activities, music and more. (Some activities will be for everyone, some you can choose what to do.)

In the evening, there is a youth-lead service at St P's at 6 pm, followed by a chill out evening in the upstairs rooms.

Over Easter there are a number of services at the Toton Churches and beyond - on Good Friday (10.30 am, suitable for all ages at St Peter’s) and on Easter Sunday at both Toton Methodist and St Peter’s at 10.30 am, again suitable for all ages.

If you are feeling awake really early on Easter Sunday, there is a service at 6.30 am at Attenborough Nature Reserve followed by breakfast at Toton Methodist Church!

Also keep an eye out for any homework clubs we hope to run over the first week of the holidays, we'll post details on the blog - www.totonyouth.blogspot.com.

Hi everyone, and Happy St Patrick's Day to you all!

Ok, that's a few days early, but I won't be around during the week to wish it to you on Wednesday. Here we go with this week:

Today I'm working for another hour or so, and then on a few days off until Friday.

Wednesday Amy will be at CU at George Spencer and in Costa in the afternoon.

Thursday Amy will be at Showcase and Cafe Breathe

Friday I'm back in circulation, and we'll both be at both youth clubs, which have got an Irish theme to them this week.

Sunday brings services at both churches and the usual Sundy morning groups. Breathe Deeper is on in the evening.

Anyway, it's a quieter week for me, so I'll wish you all the best and see you hopefully on Friday!

Afternoon everyone,

Apologies that this is a bit later today than usual, I've been away at get-together of youth workers in the area. This week has one or two minor alterations to it, so here we go:

Wednesday brings the usual CU at George Spencer and we'll be at McDonalds in the afternoon. Costa is apparently due to open on Friday, so all being well next week Amy will be there on Wednesday (I'm away for part of next week, so won't be there!)

Thursday sees us both at Showcase in the afternoon and Cafe Breathe in the evening.

Friday sees a small change in that ther is only one youth group on this week, the junior one from 6.15 to 7.45. We have cancelled the session for the older group.

Sunday is Mothering Sunday, and is also Bisoke's last Sunday with us before he returns to the DR Congo. There is a united service at St Peter's to mark both occasions, and will be your last opportunity to come and see Bisoke before he goes. It's at 10.30 am. Breathe Deeper will also be on in the evening.

Lastly, Amy and I collected the hoodies and t-shirts that you've ordered this afternoon, they will be ready for collection later in the week.

Afternoon everyone,

As things have been juggled arouind this week, I'm sending out the weekly email a day early.

Tomorrow - I'm on a day off as I'm working Tueday, my normal weekly day off.

Tuesday - I've got several meetings, including an extra meeting of the Churches LEadership Team in the evening (so won't be going to hockey Will, sorry.)

Wednesday - Amy and I will both be at George Spencer CU (assuming it hasn't snowed too much by then!) and Starbucks in the afternoon. There is also a meeting in the evening for anyone involced in the Sunday school groups we run at Toton Churches. It's at 7.30 at St P's.

Thursday - Showcase is on at George Spencer after school, and Cafe Breathe is on at TMC in the evening.

Friday - Both youth groups are on at TMC in the evening at the usual times.

Next Sunday Bisoke is helping to lead the evneing service at St P's (6 pm), which will be a great opportunity to hear about the work he and Judy Acheson have been doing in DR Congo.

Many of you will know Major Bruce Spencer, whom we've been sending regular supplies of Revels chocolates to in Afghanistan. During the week, I had this email from him:

It was wonderful to see you all when i was home three weeks a go and I have just returned from a town near marjah to find your Revels waiting for me on return. They are really great to hand round and encourage a " giving" atmosphere in the office. I have to confess to having a concience this time - I have been away on operations ( you may have seen the news coverage) in Marjah and Nad Ali and hev been without chocolate for a couple of weeks and therefore I may not share as many as i normally do. Normal service will be resumed..... later!

Thank you all for your support whilst I am here , it is great to have the package come through every Sunday , its really uplifting. Some people who promised to write frequently have gradually tailed off , but those friends in churches have continued to write. It shows real Christian commitment and you should not underestimate the good it does , and shows the world how generous and inclusive Christians are.

It may seem like a small gesture each week, but thank you to everyone who has taken a turn to send the Revels.

Half-Term Homework Club

Morning all,

As it's half term, things are quite quiet this week.

The only regular event that's happening this week is Starbucks on Wednesday, Amy will be there from 3 until about 4.30. There is also a service for Ash Wednesday at 7.30 pm at Toton Methodist Church.

We are, however arranging a couple of extra sessions as "homework clubs", space to come and get some work done over half term with a bit of extra help and encouragement available.

The first session will be today from 2 til 4 at Toton Methodist Church in Room 1 (the back room). The second will be at the same time on Thursday, though we will need to ask for a volunteer or two to help out with that as I'm away for a few days from tomorrow.

Afternoon everyone,

This week is a little quieter, I'm not off to World War 2 for starters! (Thanks to everyone for making it a great day last Wednesday.) Amy is away for a few days after three hectic weeks last month, so for the early part of the week I'll be on my tod at school etc.

Tuesday - day off

Wednesday I'll be at CU at George Spencer at lunchtime and Starbucks in the afternoon as well.

Two I forgot to include this morning -

BLT - Breathe Leadership Training - finally gets under way this weekend, Sunday afternoon 2 til 4 pm at St Peters, open to anyone in Year 10 and above.

Hoodies - Please get your order in as soon as possible for t-shirts and hoodies if you want either or both.

Good morning and Happy February!

It's a busy week this week, so here we go:

Today Bisoke and I are off to George Spencer later this morning to visit 3 Year 8 RS classes, he will be sharing about life in DR Congo.

Tomorrow is a rest day

Wednesday sees us in 3 different places - I'm on a WW2 history trip with Year 6 from Bispham (complete with British Army uniform from the period!), Bisoke is at college and Amy will be at George Spencer CU at lunchtime. I'll be back in tome for most of Starbucks (3-4.30) and Amy will be there at the beginning at least as well!

Thursday Showecase is on at the usual time, as is Cafe Breathe, and I have a committee meeting at Bispham in the early part of the evening so might be a few minutes late to Cafe Breathe.

Friday brings both youth clubs back into action after the break for the church weekend, usual times (6.15 - 7.45 and 8.00 - 9.30) at Toton Methodist Church.

Sunday morning I'm on the early shift, preaching at both the 8.30 and 10.30 services at St Peters. Sunday morning groups will go ahead as normal though. Breathe Deeper is on on Sunday evening too, 7.00 to 8.30 at St Peters.

Sleepout:

We're organising a trip to this years Week A event http://www.soulsurvivor.com/uk/ss2010/weeka/venues.html. There will be booking forms out this week, keep an eye out for them.
