David and Goliath - A Cracking Read

We're working our way through the Bible, and making sense of how it all fits together. You may think you know this story really well, but have a look at this version of it, from The Message.

It's a reminder that God doesn't use the mighty and powerful, or weapons of war to force us to follow him (verses 45-47). You might feel small and insignificant, but God still has a plan for you and wants to use you to make a big difference for someone. David knew his accuracy with a sling (a gift from God in the first place) was enough to defeat Goliath from a distance. He knew that God was bigger than the giant standing in front of him.

What is the "giant" (difficulty/problem/issue) standing in front of you at the moment?
Take confidence from the fact that God loves you and will help you deal with it. (It might not be with a sling and stone, but with help from other people.)
Think of a giant issue in the world right now (fire in Australia, poverty in Africa etc) and ask God to make a difference.
Think of a person you know who needs a bit of help, at school at a a club you are in, and ask God how you can help them.
