Weekly Email Oct 13th 2008

Afternoon all,

Half way through October and already half term is looming! I’ll come back to half term later, but for now it’s on with this week:

Today – Ju Yeon is off, relaxing on her birthday
Tomorrow – I’m off, but Ju Yeon is visiting Beavers for the first time.
Wednesday – We’re both in Starbucks, planning Alpha and chatting to whoever is around, do feel free to drop in. We’ll be there from around 2 pm this week….
Thursday – We’re both at George Spencer twice today, running the CU session at lunchtime and supporting the Showcase session after school. Both are open to anyone at George Spencer, do please mention them to anyone you know who might be interested! IN the evening, Ju Yeon will be at Cubs for the first time!
Friday – We are both at Play & Praise for lunch, and then I’m at St P’s when we welcome Banks Road Infant School for their harvest celebrations. In the evening we’re both at GYM and Rock Solid.

Looking Ahead:
On Friday October 24th Rock Solid are going Ice Skating. All the details and the consent slip are on the form, which you can download by clicking here. Alongside the Consent Slip you’ll need to have completed an annual Breathe Health and Consent form. Please email me for one if you haven’t already completed it and returned it to me.

Youth Alpha Weekend Away – as part of the Alpha @ Breathe material, we are planning a weekend away for everyone involved in the youth alpha course over the weekend of February 13th to 15th next year. The cost will be minimal, probably under £10 per person, and I hope to have a venue and cost sorted by the end of the week. Please note that to go on the Alpha weekend you should have attended at least 8 of the 12 sessions this side of Christmas. (I’m including the youth-lead service on October 26th as one of the 12 sessions.)

Youth Exchange Open Evening – On Wednesday October 22nd there’s an opportunity to come and find out more about the possibilities for a youth exchange. Click here to download the leaflet that is available with some background information. The evening is open to anyone interested in finding out more, there will be some spaces on any trip open to adult leaders as well as the majority open to teenagers.

Half Term is looming, and I’m looking to organise a day out to Waterworld in Stoke on Trent for the alpha group (max 20 teenagers!), but would need some help with transport. Could any of you who are drivers help out? It would be during the day, so I realise those of you who work might not be able to help. If you can, please email me back to let me know what days you might be able to help out. There will also be a banner-painting day over half term, more details of that next week.

In the meantime, keep an eye open for Ju Yeon’s Korean word of the week, and if you are feeling brave enough, try your pronunciation out next time you see her!

God bless you in all you do this week,

Andy
