Weekly Email September 23rd 2008

Just when I’m settling into the routine of Tuesdays off, along comes a schools day and throws my routine out the window. It did make a nice crashing sound when it hit the ground below though. On with the rest of the week….

Tuesday - Assembly @ Bispham and Activities Fair @ George Spencer

Wednesday – Assembly @ Chetwynd and Starbucks in the afternoon. ALF continues @ St Peter’s from 6.30 pm.

Thursday – CU @ lunchtime and Showcase after school, both at George Spencer.

Friday – Play and Praise is on @ TMC from 1.30, and GYM and Rock Solid are both on @ TMC in the evening.

Sunday – Sunday School groups in the morning, at both churches, and I’ll be starting off @ St P’s this week. Alpha @ Breathe continues at 7 @ St P’s.

Alpha News:

It was absolutely fantastic to see 25 people at Alpha @ Breathe on Sunday night – thank you to all those who have been praying for the sessions recently. Keep up the good work. Such was the atmosphere in the building towards the end, we’ll be setting up some different zones – a loud room, a quiet room and a prayer room for the 30 minute slot at the end. We’ll have posters up on the doors this Sunday! We could also do with a little bit of practical help in a couple of ways:

  • Pudding makers/bakers/providers. It would be great if we could have a few volunteers to do one or two sessions over the next few months to make a simple desert or cake to kick each evening off with.
  • Washers-up. If you could come along and serve in a practical way by washing up the pudding bowls/plates each week, please let me know as soon as you can.
  • As always, a CRB check would be helpful….

Service Opportunity:

We often talk about serving the world around us; here’s a chance to put words into action! On Sunday October 5th Friends of Toton Fields are organising a Maintenance Day to:

Help your community improve the natural environment around you. All are welcome. This will include a clean-up in the river, litter picking, and other things to be determined. Bring your rough clothes. It would be useful to know if you plan to attend, but put it in your diary and just turn up if you prefer – you will be put to work! There is no charge for coming along for non-members.

(Taken from http://www.freewebs.com/friendsoftotonfields/eventsactivities.htm.) If you haven’t heard of Friends of Toton Fields, visit the website to find out more. I’m getting more details of the event, and will post them on the blog as soon as I can.

On the Blog:

There are a couple of things on the blog to remind you about – the vote for a Rock Solid night out and details about the Banner competition we’re running. Check the blog out, and have a look later in the week for pics from last Friday’s RS Mummy-wrapping contest! If you’re not sure where the blog is, it’s at http://www.totonyouth.blogspot.com/.

In the meantime, have a great week, may the sun continue to shine and the light of God guide you onwards!
