Weekly Email August 5th 2008

Greetings one and all,

This week we are off to the cinema to see Mamma Mia. It’s tomorrow evening at 7.30 pm in Long Eaton, please meet me outside Galaxy at 7.10 pm, and if you have an Orange mobile, please bring it with you so we can get 2 for 1 entry. Please email me beforehand if you are coming, so I know how many to wait for! Thank you. On Friday, I’ll be at Starbucks from 3.30, once I’ve had my fill of athletes grinning inanely as they walk into the Olympic Stadium in Beijing for the opening ceremony…..

It’s All-Age service this Sunday morning at TMC, I’ll be there and then I’m disappearing overnight to see friends, so if you are coming to the Peak District next Tuesday, and need info on it at the last minute, please phone me, DO NOT EMAIL next Sunday/Monday as I won’t be at a computer until late Monday evening. All of which leads me nicely on to the trip to the Peak District!

Tuesday August 12th:

Meet at Long Eaton railway station at 10.30 am to catch the train up to Hathersage in time for a picnic lunch in the Millennium Garden in the grounds of the Methodist church, and then on to the open air swimming pool (http://www.highpeak.gov.uk/culture/Hathersage) for a couple of hours in the afternoon before getting the train back to Long Eaton. We’re due back in Long Eaton at 6.21 pm. All being well, the weather will be suitable for both a swim and a very tasty Bradwells Ice Cream. The cost will be no more than £10, though I’m expecting it to be in the region of about £8, including train travel and swim entry. You’ll need to bring swimming stuff, a packed lunch (though there are shops in the village!) and money to cover your swim, travel and an ice cream or anything else you might buy. As always, if cost is the barrier to you coming, please let me know and we can sort something out. Really important bit coming up – please email me by tomorrow at the latest if you are coming so I can book travel. Thank you.

Website of the Week:

It’s time to get all cultural, here’s one for South Korea - http://www.koreanculture.org/06about_korea/symbols.htm - well worth a look to find out what life is like in Korea as we prepare to welcome Ju Yeon in a few weeks time. Exciting times lie ahead as she brings a taste of Asia with her and we have an opportunity to learn more about this fascinating country.

If I could say it in Korean, I would, but I can’t so English will have to do – God bless and have a great week!

Andy
