Morning all,
I hope the patch of grey sky above you isn’t as dull as the patch of grey sky above me this fine August morning! AS we wander towards the end of the six weeks holidays, we are getting ready for the sudden rush that is September. Hopefully, you all have received in the post health forms and flyers for all the groups starting up again over the next couple of weeks. If not, please accept my apologies for missing you out and let me know who you are and I’ll pass one on to you.
Septembers Groups:
GYM – for anyone in Years 3 to 6, starts up again on Friday September 12th @ TMC
Rock Solid – for anyone in Year 7 to 10 (ish, there are young leaders roles available). Starts on September 12th @ TMC.
ALF – a new group, a bit like Sunday School mid-week, for Years 3 to 6, starting on Wednesday September 17th @ St P’s.
Breathe Small Groups – will this term be built around Youth Alpha, and with an opportunity then to explore Baptism/Confirmation in the New Year. Next session will be on September 7th @ TMC. More about that further on. Open to anyone in Year 7 and above.
Starbucks – not a group as such, but a chance to chat and drink hot chocolate, coffee etc @ Starbucks in Toton. Anything at all can pop up in conversation. Usually on Wednesdays, but a moveable feast.
This week:
This week is quieter and betting busier! Today I’m in Starbucks from 3 for an hour or so. On Thursday I’m off to Heathrow airport to collect Ju Yeon, our new TFG volunteer. Please keep her in your prayers over the next few days as she travels, meets new people and settles in to a new environment and lifestyle.
On Sunday evening, there is a youth-lead service @ TMC @ 6.30. If any of you want to be involved, or share reflections or something else from
Next Week:
Monday 1st – sees a change for me, in that I’ll be working every Monday normally now, and taking Tuesday as my midweek day off. If you send me an email on Tuesdays, please understand that I might not answer it until Wednesday and so on. Monday is also the start of the new Joint Churches Leadership Team.
Wednesday 3rd – Starbucks from 3
Sunday 7th – The Methodist will be celebrating youth and children’s work in it’s churches with a service at TMC this evening @ 6.pm. It would be great to see as many of us as possible at it, particularly as the circuit will be welcoming officially Ju Yeon (and other people in a similar role in other churches) and slightly belatedly, me to the area. Breathe will be meeting afterwards, @ TMC.
Website of the Week:
Here’s a guy who has things in perspective. The gold medal at the Olympics was his for the taking, and he fluffed it, big time. For the second Olympics in a row. However, the story he told, and the truth he spoke, are humbling. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/shooting/7566240.stm And if that’s not enough, here’s a real tear-jerker from the weightlifting. It’s long, at 12 minutes, but well worth the time as it shows just how powerful a motivator true, genuine, love really is. Whatever our sporting goals may be, love, true love that is a gift from God, is worth so much more. Watch it, and remember just how much you love those around you, http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/weightlifting/7571099.stm, and what they would do for you.
Every blessing to you all, feel free to give me a shout at any time if you want more info on anything.
