FW: Weekly Email - July 15th 2008

Greetings everyone!

I think I’m speaking English English again instead of Americanese after our trip over there. This being the last week in term, things are winding down/changing shape a bit, and then we are into the summer holidays. More info below, and of course on the blog – www.totonyouth.blogspot.com.

This Week:

Today: no events

Wednesday: “It’s Your Move” afternoon at St Peter’s, followed at some stage by a coffee at Starbucks! (I’ll probably get there for about 4.00pm ish)

Thursday: 2 sessions at George Spencer, both party orientated – Showcase Plus at lunchtime in Rom 64 and Showcase Original in Base 4 after school.

Friday: Schools out for the summer! And to mark the event, we’ll be giving away choc-ices at Toton Methodist on Friday at lunchtime (12 noon ish) just as we did with the hot chocolate at Christmas and Crème eggs at Easter. If you can come along and help out, please do. Any suggestions for what Christian message to put with the ice creams welcome as well. I might well end up in Starbucks afterwards as well…. 2 pm for an hour or so.

Summer Holidays:

Later today I’ll be putting a new poll on the blog asking what you all want to do over the summer. I’ve got some stuff lined up, just need to confirm dates, so keep an eye on the blog and get involved. I’m aiming to put on one Breathe event a week, but not always on a Sunday evening. Some of them will be purely social, some will be very focussed. I’ll also be in Starbucks once a week, again not always on a Wednesday, just to vary things a bit, so if you want to catch up for a chat, drop in. Remember, if you want to chat about something specific, you can always arrange to meet me at Starbucks/McDonalds/another public place on a date that suits you; sometimes the organised Starbucks slots are busier than would make it easy to talk.

This email does go to a mix of adults and young people, this bit for adults specifically – when we put on events over the summer, we’ll need a bit of support in terms of supervision etc, can you please let me know if you would be willing to spare an hour or two one evening to help supervise/transport/lead a session? Thank you. I’ve also got some stuff in the pipeline that would probably take 2 full days doing some painting and DIY at Toton Methodist, and again would need adult help. Could you spare a morning/afternoon, possibly mid-week? Thank you.

When you go on your travels over the summer, whether it be to beautiful Bognor, tedious Turkey or magical Ireland, let us know. Take a pic on your phone and send it back to me, I’ll put it on the blog and we’ll build up a picture of where we get to this summer. Read this bit though as well - If you send me a pic, I’ll put it on the blog, but won’t use your name if you are in the photo, and will assume by you sending me the photo that you are happy to be in a photo on the blog. Pics from well-known tourist attractions are better than pics of you at the beach, cos it could be any beach really, and beach shots are not the best to put on a website…. And bonus points if you can get a Bible reference in there too! (If you happen to be going to Turkey, you’re in with a shout on that one!) Please also check with your parents if you are unsure. Email it me or send it to my mobile. Parents – any concerns, give me a shout. I will only put suitable pics on the blog! There will be small prizes for the best/cheesiest/tackiest/most Biblical etc!

Website of the week:

As well as the hidden gem above, try this one - http://www.streetbrand.com/Entertainment - a really cool (which makes me sound uncool) site full of useful stuff and the latest Christian music and more.

In the meantime, have a good week, and every blessing in all you do. As always, if you have any questions, give me a shout.

Andy
