Weekly Email - June 3rd 08

Morning everyone,

I hope half term was good, and that you managed to get a break of some sort. Just before I went away, I had a phone call from our new TFG volunteer for September, Lee Ju Yeon from South Korea, to confirm that she will be joining us in the Autumn. Of course, that means that Maria’s time with us is drawing to a close, and we will say farewell to her on June 22nd – more on that below. Add to this the news that Colin Bourne will be installed as the new Vicar at St Peter’s in the near future, and we have exciting times to look forward to!

This Week:

Today – Showcase Plus @ George Spencer

Tomorrow – Starbucks drop-in after school and Youth Forum at 8 pm at St P’s.

Thursday – Showcase in Base 4 @ George Spencer after school

Friday – GYM and Rock Solid are both on this Friday at the usual times.

Sunday morning sees the first of the combined all-age worship services at the Toton Churches @ 10.30 at Toton Methodist church. Sunday evening sees a Breathe Night Out In happening from 7 to 9 pm @ St P’s. We’ll be ordering Pizza, so if you can bring £2 to contribute, please do.

Coming Up:

Sunday June 22nd is Maria’s last day with us, and as well as anything that may happen at the morning services, in the afternoon/evening there will be a chance to say your own farewell to her. The times are all very approximate (remember, the Irishman in me was topped up and more laid back than usual over half term with a few days back there!):

4 pm – games, drinks, and a chance to chill out for all ages

5 pm – bar-be-que

6 pm – youth lead worship

All of these take place at the Methodist church, and there will be stuff happening regardless of the great British weather, but please keep those prayers going for good weather!

Much longer term, but we know the date now (We think!):

Confirmation (and Baptism) – in the autumn, I’ll be running a confirmation course for any teenagers that want to explore this step in the Christian journey. We’ve booked a friendly Bishop for the actual confirmation, and the service will be on Wednesday March 18th 2009. The course will run through October and November this year, at a time and venue to be confirmed. If you are (or someone you know is) interested in Confirmation and/or being baptised, please let me know, and also let me know what time of day/week would suit. Between the end of the course and the confirmation service there will also be a weekend away/retreat for those being confirmed – details to be arranged later.

Website of the Week:

A slightly more serious one this week, www.itsnotyourfault.org is run by the charity NCH and is full of advice and support for people affected by the end of a parental relationship. You might not need it yourself, but you may well know someone at school or work who might find it helpful.

In the meantime, Breathe Deeply and let God fill you with his Spirit! (Ezekiel 37:14)

Have a good week,

Andy
